I hated the Warship in the hand. While the Bards are not as comfortable as Truths and Verdicts, these I can at least grip and rip.

While I would be willing to tackle 330-340 holes with my other mids, I am thinking the Bard is going to top out at 320 or so on line drives. That is fine, though, because usually at the 310 and above range I consider throwing my Thief and Gazelle anyway. No I have less overlap, which is my ultimate goal for this year.

I never got a chance to air them out on the course, but I am not sure I want to give them too much air. The only time they got away from me today was throwing them slightly nose up. At that point they dumped hard left.

Is there anyone that can post profile pics comparing

Bard to Verdict

Bard to Mace

I can as soon as my bard gets here! Hopefully tomorrow- USPS said it was supposed to be here today.

shroom 03-05-2015 08:54 PM

Eager to see it. From the profile pic on the first page it looks a lot like a Mace. Flight may be different, but looks similar

I have both and the bead on the Mace is substantially larger than that of the Bard. The Bard still has a beaded feel, but to less of an extreme.

Warship is long and neutral straight - I don't see it.

AndyJB 03-05-2015 11:20 PM

Yeah the Bard is nothing like a Warship.

Maybe he's got a noodle arm and the Warship is OS for him?

That would be a ramen arm - my noodle loves the Warship

World Eater 03-06-2015 07:52 PM

ya.. either he's throwing ~50' and cant control his angles or he just happened to be talking out the wrong orifice. maybe he can tell us which and end the speculation? :)

cant wait to get my Bards to some big courses this weekend. currently working on instigating some tag battles. I havent had a chance to rank up since I bought in at #22.

Monkeypaws 03-06-2015 09:52 PM

Gettin my cast off next week - getting a Bard, gonna play some 1 disc rounds with it.

AndyJB 03-06-2015 11:09 PM

Adding one of my Bards to the ace pool at our weekly tag event tomorrow. Maybe I'll ding one in and get to keep it, just to re-add it next week, haha.

I will hound whomever wins it to throw it so I can get their reaction, and will report back my findings.

MarkDSM 03-07-2015 01:29 AM

I bought a Bard today in TP. Nice deepness in the hand and want to see how to it fights into the wind. Nice pistachio with super glitter. Will be giving it a workout in the field bag.

The stamp however...

Somewhat gender ambiguous guy howling? The open mouth in profile is not a good look.

if I like the Bard the stamp gets wiped before a friend adds some sharpie art to it.

Kodachrome 03-07-2015 02:51 AM

Lmao. ^ I feel the same for the most part, but as soon as I saw one of the dreamy foils with the cogs and gears and moons and stars it looked better and appropriate somehow. Looking at it plain it just ... Yeah.

AndyJB 03-07-2015 11:20 AM

It's a Bard, he's singing. perhaps the meaning is lost on us Americans since we don't have a rich history of bards like Finland?

Just imagine it's a woman with small chesticles.

TheBMeistor 03-07-2015 12:04 PM

I still say Westside has the best stamps. Bard included.

I agree. VIP are the best looking discs. Too bad I don't love how they fly.

It's based on Joukahainen (on a trivial note, the Sorcerer refers to Väinämöinen).

You'll get no argument from me on this.

I think we know what a bard is.

I also think we know that bard looks like they're ready for a d. Foil's awesome though.

I can assure you the Bard is not female. I have a hard time figuring out why you people would think that, unless you've never seen a guy with long hair, or you're just trolling :)

ed IV 03-09-2015 12:15 AM

-men swallow D too!

august dupree 03-09-2015 01:05 AM

Seriously? If you guys are worried about the gender of the Bard, then clearly you must be latent.

bballr4567 03-09-2015 01:42 AM

I'll be throwing mine tomorrow. If..... The practice field isn't under water.

Arto Hoffren (the person who actually designed the stamp) stated that it is a female...

RistoS 03-09-2015 06:48 AM

Well that doesn't make sense to me then. What gives?

There is pretty clearly cleavage and bosom visible. It's a female

And that would be a completely different disc. The mix-up is pretty understandable though ;)

Not that Finland isn't a progressive country regarding equality (they are) a Bard is traditionally a male. I'm sure in the nnals of time there were women that served in a Bard's storyteller role, but typically it was a guy. Similar to how a Seer or oracle was a female role.

DougCrawford 03-09-2015 06:28 PM

Mace on left, bard on right

Not similar, but not dissimilar either.

Toxic Twinky 03-09-2015 08:24 PM

Just a very masculine female lol, any1 carrying this and a verdict in your bag? I am for now, will get to test em out more once this snow in michigan is gone

Experimented with the Bard today. Got to play morning through mid afternoon solo and free to do what I pleased. So I made it a multi midrange driving day.

What I think thus far of the Bard and me... mostly getting it gas RHBH
Bard does not like any sort of a hyzer release.
Fade is moderate.
Deepish rim depth is noticeable. Fine with me.
Rather nose up sensitive. I do not think I would want to put a lot of air under it.
Might work fine as a grunt os line drive disc
Do want to see it in the wind. Was a calm day.

Fairly close Buzzz OS in flight and range on a calm day.

If it made my bag it would be competing with a Ti Buzzz in the 'big bag'. (also carry gstar roc3, z drone, comet(s), firm sole, kc roc/flat roc in 'big bag')

What do you mean it "does not like any sort of hyzer release"? I think it does really well holding a hyzer line, but you certainly can't throw this thing with hyzer and expect it to fly straight

Mine showed up about 15m before sundown and I got it out w a verdict and a few other mids. (mine is a 173tourny) Feel in hand was great for me and It flew predictably over ten or so throws. Back to back with proto verdicts is was slightly slower and much easier for me to control. Nice hss and a moderate hookup at the end. I wont go into flight more until I have more time with it but for me it is what I wish the verdict was. I really like the flight of the verdict but the shallow grip was horrible... I cant say yet if the bard is less stable but I sure can get a better rip on it!
