Lol I like how we are discussing this as if Innova would ever let the USDGC be held anywhere else but Winthrop. I could see them maybe building a brand new venue near Innova East before moving it around to different courses.

I do agree with toddnick though that good aesthetics should be a factor (even though I think Winthrop Gold is a nice venue).

The first half of the season for disc golf really needs to improve on that front...looking at you Wintertime Open, Las Vegas Challenge, Memorial, Utah Open, and GBO.

If they were to ever do it anywhere else it would be Camp Cannan.

But the year the car went into the lake and weed popped out almost ended at Winthrop.

I forget about Camp Canaan. That is a pretty good course from what I've heard.

It is. It's certainly scenic. But I'm not sure it's gold-level and, being carved from the woods, it probably couldn't be extended to be.

It could also accommodate a gallery of dozens.

Camp Canaan is nice course but it is nowhere near the big league wooded course that would be required to be a real complement to Winthrop Gold. It would take quite the redesign to push it near that level of course.

Dang, that Sauls guy always beating me to the punch while I'm typing away.

Aestheticly pleasing doesn't make the list. Of course it's a great plus to have (and depending on how you view it, a Winthrop or Peoria or Emporia may or may not have it) but it's not on the criteria. We are still at a point that the PDGA has to make sure:

1) The event is financial viable
2) The event is logistically viable
3) The courses are appropriate to the skill level

Fatigue is real from a TD/Event Staff. Look at how Selinske bombed at Maple Hill. A Pittsburgh or Smuggs or Eureka or whoever is always at risk of running out of energy or resources (Pro events are really hard financially). I don't think anyone could realistically sign up for every other year dealing with Pro Worlds.

Which brings us the point, often lost with some people, that the PDGA doesn't place events. They can't say, Such-and-such course is terrific, we'll have a Major (or NT) there!. They are dependent on hosts and bids.

Caddy book is out: https://usdgc.com/?p=4933

So #3 and #4 are new #1 and #2, then two new holes (which have total of 3 double mandatories..... :rolleyes) and then the usual starting from #5 (with minor tweaks here and there).

Total of 7 mandos and 5 double mandos, and miles of rope, for what its worth.

Can't wait!!

Looks like the "fishsticks" have been moved to hole #16.
