I've only thrown fourth runs so far what's the difference between the fifth and fourth runs?

Fifth are closer to first runs in flight.

I read that about the fifth runs but I just started throwing fd's and have never thrown a first run how does the compare to a fourth run hss,less wise?

while there are nuances between runs, I think plastic is a bigger factor. For simplicity sake (anyone feel free to correct me)

DFD
most understable of any of the plastics. Great for standstill shots/low power hyzer flips/rollers/shot that definitely need to end right. Biggest advantage is how little power it needs to start flying (very useful) FLIPPY

SFD
very neutral flight, imagine if a leopard and a Tl had a baby. Great for long straight fairway drives/hyzer flips/ LOOOONG anhyzer/standstill shots. Can definitely handle more power than the DFD but again doesn't take much to get this disc going. NEUTRAL

CFD
I am least knowlegable about the 1/3/4/5/6 run FDs, from what I understand they all teeter around the -1,+1 flight path some being a hair more stable some being a hair less. STABLE


2nd run CFD
the holy grail for those who fell in love with them, it's an FD that flys like a teebird. random happenstance and while great for mold consolidation (not to mention **** perfect flight) they are limited and alot have been bought up and hoarded. flat,stiff,pearly goodness. OVERSTABLE

Here's my personal ratings for all of the FD's from the FD thread:

2nd run C-Line (pretty much no high speed turn; strong forward fade; I'd rate it 0 HSS, 2 LSS)
3rd/4th run C-Line (some high speed turn; good forward fade; -.75 HSS, 1.5 LSS)
S-Line (starts out as a straight shooter, but will beat into being less stable. second closest to the flight #'s after it's been beaten in a little imo; -1 HSS, 1.25 LSS)
1st run C-Line (closest to the actual flight ratings of any FD imo; -1 HSS, 1 LSS)
5th run C-line (about the same as the 1st run. Stiffer JL plastic; -1 HSS, 1 LSS)
G-Line (predictable high speed turn and a lot of glide; less low speed fade; definitely more understable for bigger arms; hyzer flip machine; -1.25 HSS, 1 LSS)
Lady Line (definitely understable; beat in quickly; -1.5 HSS, .5 LSS)
D-Line (flip city!! I've spent a little more time with these and they're still super understable out of the box; beat in super fast; great beginner & roller disc; -2.5 HSS, .5 LSS)
