OK - Prototype MD Review:

Tentative Flight Numbers (for those who care about them): 4/5/0/0

I tested two max weight, domey, and pretty stiff ones. For reference my radar gun speed average is 64mph backhand, my distance driver golf (DD2/PD2) shots fall in the 390'-410' range, and I use a pretty standard fan grip on mids/putters.

Don't let the 0/0 fool you, these things can handle snap. They like to rise and glide out nicely, very pretty flight pattern to watch. With the dome even when you attempt low laser lines they still like that rise-and-glide-straight type flight. I was pleasantly surprised as I expected them to turn and burn. Even when I tried to force anny to burn it into a roller it just held the angle to the ground.

When I was just starting out my favorite midrange was a Coyote, and the MD is very reminiscent of that disc. The mold itself is a derivative of the same Coyote/Mako family so the reasoning is obvious. This disc stays true to its lineage and cousins as the dictionary definition of "stable" - it likes to get flat and stay that way.

I watched Simon throw it, and even with his power it surprisingly never turned over, it just drifted right yet seemingly magically moved back left at the end and landed dead straight ahead from where he teed.

This is a very interesting mold, and we definitely don't make anything with this type of flight pattern. Admittedly Simon and I were skeptical pre-test, but after two days of throwing it in various wind conditions I'm confident enough to label this disc as a reliably straight-finisher that likes high lines to showcase that beautiful slow glide even in mild winds.

Kinda sounds like an opto fuse, can you give any comparison to that?

How about a new D-MD2?

I was under the impression that the MD1 was being retooled as an understable mid?

it doesn't sound understable from the reviews I've read.

yeah i was honestly hoping for a workable disc you can flip up and turn and have finish right. that doesn't sound like what this is... guess i'll continue to beat the crap out of a PMD3 until it flies like I want.

Any plans to release a S-line P3?

Are the "new" Shield stamp P line p2s different from "old" p line. Now that the KP2 are being sold as a separate plastic, are the regular p line way softer than they used to be?
For reference, I have p line p2s marked PP2 and KP2 from the last couple years, I also got a couple of the new KP2s and the KP2s feel slightly more rigid on the flight plate. I just want to make sure that the regular P line hasn't been made way softer now.

For recent runs (the past year or so here) P-P2 is the softer of the two runs. The newest run of KP2 are extremely stiff and are for sale on the Discmania Store right now. Unfortunately they had a smaller run of the tacky P-P2 but that was just bought out by one person :(

If you ever want to offload those softer P-P2 I am your guy ;)

Yeup, that's my definition of an understable mid as well. Oh well; I'm sure the MD could find a spot in my bag, and it may, but I'll still be bagging an understable mid (rolling with a Fuse right now) for now.
