Anyone can send Brodie a message on social media to confirm if this is him or not.

Brodie cracking 1000 so quickly is a good feat, but the idea of releasing a special edition disc for a 1k rating is just hilarious. |

I’m no fan nor hater, just seems right in line with all the social media/channels the players are promoting to try and make a living in this sport. Really the whole mass of people trying to be content creators these days. |

Not so good for the first round. E 998

When does a sub 1000 MPO get his own disc in the first place? And they sell out before the mold is cold. |
When you bring 3 Million followers with you.

I'm not trying to be a hater. I actually like Brodie. I don't buy his discs or anything, but I have a soft spot in my heart for him in an "oh, Brodie!" kind of way. Legit just find the 1000 disc funny. |
We’re not selling insulin to poor people here. Good on Brodie/ Discraft for finding ways to take fanboy $$$ and convert them into wages for the DC crew. Sell em for $40/each if they can lol

I think the 1000 rated stamp is a good idea, but man that stamp. I wonder if the same person that dreamed that up dreamed up the tour series discs with just the last name.
|
Better today -4 but somehow that's worth 23 less ratings points today than yesterday. 1007(1030). Was there a drastic change in weather?...

If ratings are less today for the same score yesterday, could mean more players are shooting lower today.

998 1005 1017 t-27th not great but after watching the GK vid from rd 1 and the livesteam today, it could have been worse as windy as it was. A lot of good players played worse than he did.
|
If I got a 1000 rating and had an opportunity to sell a gahzillion discs as a result...You dang right I'd do the same thing and so would ALL of you.

Nope, he's not sensitive at all...
lol Brodie Smith @Brodiesmith21 · Apr 9 For the haters: If the 1000 rated disc was a cash grab I would have sold 10,000 instead of the 1000 we did. It’s a disc for my fans, the ones that supported me from the beginning. So we can all look back and think just how wrong all you haters were. Keep fueling the fire. |
The number one reason I'm not a Brodie Smith fan is the way he obsesses over the "hater" narrative. Come on Bro, sell your narrative as having SOME kind of substance.
|
We all know "haters = people who don't praise all things Brodie."

Someone like Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady? We'll get the “fueled by petty grievance” stories 30 years from now, if at all. Right now, we only get small shades of it in locker room reporting. When it comes to off the field image, we mostly get the spit-polished marketing images given to us by the NFL (THE brand), State Farm, Nationwide, etc. None of that makes it a good look, of course. Plus, we don’t tend to see a lot of it in pro-DG, it seems to me, so it's jarring. Maybe something about the closeness of pro touring life means that you tend not to be able to successfully use that approach. |

(secondary reason being - my curiosity was piqued by the journey-to-1000 and seeing his form come along. Now that he's pretty much demonstrated the successful 'transition' to DG, I'm not nearly as interested in him as a middling touring pro... but that's something that could be mitigated by having an interesting narrative that he's willing to push beyond "i gOt HaTerZ") |
I saw him play a warm up round with McBeth for Waco. That was a good video. Paul was giving tips on lines and disc selection.
Side note, I also liked the video PM did with Simon where they threw each other’s lines. |
The Kona vid is pretty good. I didn't watch all of it, but I like watching his wife play, too. I like seeing how someone balances coaching and keeping it fun for someone that is close to them.

Personally, i've never liked the fake chip on the shoulder BS from any athlete...especially in football. You know, the "bulletin board material" ****. If you need fake outrage to get you pumped up to compete, you might be in the wrong line of work. |
Quote:
But, the idea that generating anger, by whatever path, as a means of motivation means you are in the wrong line of work? That’s simply not true. We know that some of the greatest athletes of all time used this approach. It’s extremely common at every level of sports. Now, it very well may end up making you miserable. I don’t think it’s a good approach to life, but ... athletes live or die based on performance, not life outcomes. |
Maybe I’ve got a different perspective on it, but for all intents and purposes professional athletes are entertainers...same as an actor, musician, or whatever.
The difference is, their talent lays within athletic ability, not acting, music, or whatever. Pro athletes make the cash they do because people watch them compete...for entertainment purposes...and that viewing base draws in advertisers and other revenue streams. I think of it like a pro Wrassler, lot of trash talk and hype to make it more entertaining. Lot of Brodie haters out there, so he can ride that wave forever. Hopefully at some point he gets good enough where his story becomes Brodie the legit contender at a couple of events a year. In the meantime you’re gonna see him calling out the haters when he makes incremental progress because he knows it’ll stir the pot. After all, it’s entertainment... |
