I just read on Disc Golf Scene they now have 9 baskets in the ground as opposed to 6 of them a week or two ago. Going to check with Terry shortly about a map. Heard he may laser the distances and whip up a map sometime soon.

I was told the (proposed) tees should be flagged and that Hole #1 starts by the Tennis Courts.

I live very near this course, hit me up if you want a round!

Looks like you are using the wrong URL for photos. Instead of grabbing the page URL go to the "Share Links" on the right hand side and click on "Direct", then post that URL in the insert image option.

Side note, looks like Ben already uploaded the Course and Map to DGCR under "Lady in Blue DGC".

Thanks for the offer, just might have to take you up on it. Looks like a 25/30 min drive or so for me, similar to Victory Park (Albion) and Big Portage Lake (Grass Lake). Jackson College is still the closest at least until Ella Sharp Park gets installed.

Link to the Lady in Blue DGC page on DGCR.

Aww Snap Ella Sharp is getting one?! I love biking out there! We must be neighbors! JC is my second closest now that McCourtie is somewhat there.

A couple updates that found their way to me this last weekend. Riverbends in Utica is coming along nicely. The new layout is terrific, but she is a bit rough around the edges. There are a few dozen posts ready to go into the ground for signs. This will smooth out navigation issues, one of the few frustrations of this course.
Holes 28-36, at Stony Creek are laid out and getting prepped for pads and signs this summer as well. You can take a look at the painted and flagged design by walking up the hill after the current 27. Great work by John and his crew.
Belle Isle is open and Bonnie Brooke is only a couple weeks away. Both will benefit from their first full season of play. Detroit Disc Golf!!!

Ella Sharp Park DG on MLive

It was approved as part of the park improvement grant, supposed to be a Ball Golf/Disc Golf tourney at Ella Sharp this summer to help raise some more funds. I am ready to volunteer some time to help clear it out when/if it happens.

There was talk about an 18 hole course in Holton, MI (east of whitehall) designed by the same folks that designed branstrom.

Hit up Millington, Mill Creek and Sage Creek this fall! You'll be surprised in the quality of disc golf the mid-thumb is cookin'! East China and Ira courses will be in their best form. Newcomer Croswell will make you shat your pants :)

Great to hear about Riverbends. I always thought it had great potential and I am moving close to there next month!

I am making a point to take you up on that in a few months! I'd love to make a day drip for some course bagging out that way in the fall.

* hope I can avoid $hat in my pants... makes for a long ride home.

Lol, the Croswell course is gonna be sick. Elevation, Black River, nice chunk of land, dg exclusive and the swinging bridge in play on two holes. Oh yeah, forgot to mention they are ordering Mach X baskets and park is supposed to bring in heavy equpment for the dirty work. Wish it was my project :)

If you ever get it, it will probably have ballsack residue on it :| :\

apdrvya 06-27-2015 02:23 PM

added "Carter's Course" in Fife Lake. The pictures on Facebook are pretty sweet. Been watching and waiting a while on this one.

apdrvya 06-27-2015 02:27 PM

There are also rumors of a course in Menominee.

Holton's course has 9 of 18 baskets in. I don't have enough info to list it yet.

Grand Isle is supposedly going in this summer...

Hell yea. Traverse City area is becoming a nice destination. As if it wasn't already without discgolf.

Not a new course update, but...

Meyer Broadway in Three Rivers: 36 new tee signs, a large course map near the first tee at both courses, fairways being mowed wider (no more crop circles), cement being poured shorts on South, longs and shorts on North. Three holes on North were done yesterday, more today.

It was incredibly beautiful out there Tim!!! Can't wait to get back and check out the Teepads :) Also, I need revenge on the back 9 of the Original. She's such a gargantuan trickster. Seduced me, then abused me :D

TimSyl 07-02-2015 10:48 AM

Agreed...

Have to get your birds by hole 10, not too many available 11-18. Last 8 tough for almost everyone. When Worlds were there in 2008, I don't believe any ams shot better than 54 (pros didn't play it). Glad you liked it.

B3NDER 07-02-2015 11:10 AM

Carter's course, eh? I didn't sign off on it.

Cannot wait to see this. I thought both of those courses really blew me away so all of that is a very welcome addition. Woohoo!

TimSyl 07-02-2015 03:21 PM

dave, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Now, here's hoping aholes don't wreck these tee signs.

davetherocketguy 07-05-2015 03:31 PM

I don't know who is responsible for it but the improvements at Vicksburg are great. New benches, signs and so forth. Kudos to whoever is responsible! Thanks!

Anyone familiar with the torch lake to charlevoix area. There are a couple baskets visible from 31 by Barnes rd and Essex north of eastport. Thinking its a personal course but not sure...any info?

Not sure, but Ric Evans can be contacted via the Mt McSauba course and is pretty active up that way, same with maybe Forrest Olmsted, likely reachable through Avalanche. Both are on DGS.

Was out at Stony Creek and walked the additional nine. Tees and pin areas cut, trimmed and ready. Sounds like they have the pads ready to pour, just waiting for the right weather. They will be a great addition to a world class facility.

Hopefully soon! It's been cut and marked for 9 months now. We actually threw it last October just for fun. The guy at the pay shack has been telling us "hopefully May", "hopefully June", "hopefully July". I can't wait!!!

I have had a conversation this week with the course designer and installer. He is making no promises. The cement work is a park hired contractor, also doing additional park work. Putting in nine holes, finding the volunteer work, and dealing with the red tape and politics of the park system can be nearly insurmountable at times. There will likely be a shout out for volunteers on DGS once the final push is on. It is close though. I am guessing mid/late August from the sounds of it.

You guys can always just shoot up my way to play!
We're still kinda new :)
