Pretty much. When manufacturers start telling their players who they can be friends with, is the day DG became too serious...

R-Ogre 01-22-2020 02:06 PM

Paul and Simon is a better bromance than Eagle and Simon. Prove me wrong.

brutalbrutus 01-22-2020 02:13 PM

Eagle is just a bit too into the bromance, whereas Simon likes to yank his chain...

Maybe a bit of Paul will rub off on Simon and he has a McBeast type of season...

Can't wait to see how he does at Idlewild if he actually goes through with playing...

Are you saying he either gets paid money, or instead is trained by top players? That's a bizarre contract.

In order to have the contract, Brodie has to get trained by some top players was the thought. More as a publicity stunt then actual work but with one of the top players being from Discraft as a $$ free promotion of Discraft by the company to start to gain more money of what Discraft spent on Brodie back in both his Disc Golf and possibly older Ultimate sports.

FWIW: I live in the Dallas area and am a 920 rated discer. I'm well aware that isn't great and that I have a ton of room for improvement, but Brodie has been killing my scores on Udisc. He routinely shoots 8-10 strokes better than me.

I know this isn't very exact, but it can be a pretty good indicator.

EarthRocker 01-22-2020 06:00 PM

No matter how good Brodie gets, I will always have a lower PDGA number.

So there.

elmexdela 01-22-2020 08:37 PM

brodie ama on reddit was hella tame and boring

there was nothing new or juicy just a buncha vague answers

brutalbrutus 01-22-2020 10:01 PM

Still hasn't signed up for an event yet...

Are you Brodie's official spokesperson?

I watched the SmashBoxx interview, those were his words

I only ask because you're his most passionate defender around here. To the point where it kind of seems like you might be a Brodie burner account.

I would argue that this sounds more than mutually gratifying.

brutalbrutus 01-22-2020 11:50 PM

Bad choice of words...

Go easy on the youngin. Simon was just his recovery bromance at the Forresters after Spectra stole away Eric. He will find the one eventually. <3:D

Do I sound that passionate? Everything I have said has come directly from the interview. I have been on here long before Brodie even got into disc golf. I’m not forsaking anyone for not jumping for joy at the thought of him playing and I’m not saying he’s going to be the next world champ either. But most people in this thread didn’t watch the interview, they have questions and all I’m doing is answering them. If that makes me a fanboy then yes I’m Brodie’s biggest of fans haha.

I do however think he will be a good player, especially with how much training he’s doing currently. Paul did the exact same thing before he became a world champ and that’s practicing at least 8 hours a day.

He's just a new Discraft fanboy so he's shilling anything they are doing. You should see the PP putter thread.

I’m constantly impressed with the mental gymnastics people are capable of on the internet.

Yeah man, BS is creating burner accounts just to try to make you like him, because your opinion means THAT MUCH. If only he could sway you, his path to domination would be certain.

So first off, I have been throwing discraft quite a while, second, same goes for that thread. People are asking questions, and I’m just answering them as best I can because I know no one from discraft is going to answer them.

Continuously yes. But I threw discraft about 7years ago for a few years before changing my bag to trilogy. This was when I was still getting the hang of nailing down my forehand and had abandoned trying to learn backhand. I had improved a lot since that time, so last year I decided to revisit discraft, yes partially influenced by Paul’s move, I did get caught up in that hype, but I have been really happy using discraft again, especially with a lot of the new molds I had missed out on at the time.

I think Team Salient fits in somewhere too...

I really regret trying to make that work honestly. And probably no sponsorship in the future for me at least not now. Just had a second son. I have barely been able to get out and play. I just prefer sticking to one manufacturer. Keeps me from going off the wall trying every new disc from every new company. I have thrown nearly everyone at some point. Mvp, legacy, innova. Thrown all of them.

Imop...dude is starting to sound disc golf legit. hmm.....

In his reddit ama, Brodie says that he's only played 5 or 6 courses so far, and his favorite was Dash's Track in DFW.

https://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=5142

Most holes are under 200 ft. Course rating is a 2.57.

Seems like an odd course for an aspirational competitive pro to list as their favorite.

Elsewhere in the ama, I noticed that he didn't seem to know the stable/understable terminology yet, and doesn't fully know the rules yet.

If we're taking bets on whether he'll be 1000-rated by the end of the season, I'd also like to take bets on whether he's still playing disc golf by the end of next year.

mf be practicing on a putt putt course

DiscFifty 01-23-2020 02:59 PM

From what I've "heard" him say, it sounds like he is convinced the game is won and lost from 300ft in. That may be why is focusing on putters and mids for the most part and apparently learning the various shots, angles, for the short game. Must be nice to bomb near 500ft so early on that you can focus on other parts of the game.

This is the most DGCR thread I have ever seen. It has it all, speculation, conspiracy theories, brutal sarcasm, trolling, Casey...

It is. You never saw David Wiggins as a winner of any National event, did you?
