That teepad on #4 is definitely James Conrad approved..

At that point it’s a sidewalk.

Not doing too bad, he's averaging 999 rounds.

Meh... he's right... almost every person that talks smack on the internet wouldn't say it to a persons face... pandemic or not.... scared of germs or not. One of the things that bums me out about social media.

It's been 9 years but I remember that course being pretty awesome

brutalbrutus 09-19-2020 10:20 PM

Shot 1008 today. 4th place, 3 behind the leader with 1rd to go.

brutalbrutus 09-20-2020 10:51 PM

meh 3rd round. 984 and finished 7th.

brutalbrutus 09-22-2020 12:35 AM

Brodie has posted commentary versions of his rounds at Idlewild...

DiscFifty 09-26-2020 12:42 AM

Brodie's putting is looking better all the time. He has C1 pretty much dialed in. Once he gets rid of the air bounce, nose up, his forehands are going to be near elite distance.

brutalbrutus 09-26-2020 10:09 PM

He was t-4th after the first round of a B-tier today. 999 and then shot the hot round 1035 in the 2nd round to tie for the lead but apparently lost in a playoff.

brutalbrutus 09-26-2020 11:49 PM

Since leaving the tour, he averaging 1006 for the 11 rounds he's played.

Don't most guys play pitch 'n putts until they get on tour?;)

Not...even.....close. Mainly because how insanely hard it is to get a 1000 rated round on a true pitch and putt due to ams being able to score high as well.

Compared to the tour courses it is. Avg SSA is about 50.

erock216 09-27-2020 08:59 AM

Most courses are pitch and putt compared to the pro tour. You serious brah?

brutalbrutus 10-04-2020 06:50 PM

He crapped the bed a bit today but had a pretty good first two rounds at Texas States. 1004 1033 976 t-14th in a pretty solid field...

https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/43763

DiscFifty 10-04-2020 10:58 PM

He still averaged over 1000 rated all 3 rounds. He just might end the year damn close to 1000 rated. Crazy for someone jumping into Open their first year with zero pdga experience.

TheOtherBill 10-05-2020 08:25 PM

#2 McCord, might as well consider that fairway it's so close to the basket

Can someone explain to me how this disc could be worth anything close to $600.00?

https://www.facebook.com/commerce/li...8423553435430/

It's obviously an intentional over and over stamped misprint. hmm...

Meillo 10-08-2020 08:36 AM

Value depends on offer and demand (and the confidence to be able to sell it for the same or higher amount later). If there would be a very high demand for such a disc and only few available, then you get such values. But only because something is rare (which it seems to be), you won't necessarily sell it for such astronomical prices. Of course, one can try nonetheless ... ;-)

Just because thats what they are asking for it doesn't mean that's what it's worth. It's worth what somebody pays for it. And even if it sells for that price, still doesn't mean it is actually worth it. It means somebody in this world is ridiculously stupid.

Most irrelevant award of October?

Brodie vs USDGC

:p

Ha I think heís falling victim to internet distance.

Dude can throw, not questioning that but the jawbreaker zone thrown waist high did not go 300 feet. Quite a few other throws looked questionable.

I get gps off UDisc measurements can be up to 30 feet short or long, surely he knows that too. Donít put the distances on each throw in the video...just say I throw this disc for holes ranging from blah to blah blah blah.

Heís gotta know the trolls are waiting to pick him apart. Most other pros donít talk about how far they throw in their ITB videos...

wolfhaley 10-15-2020 04:13 AM

Seems to me that Brodie that got a taste of humble pie. Not knocking the dude but this thread used to be poppin...now it's barely clinging to life.

They're both irrelevant. At least for 2 weeks for my cheap ass. 😉

Agreed. There's probably some ego there, talking the same distances as the elites, etc. He is throwing damn good though. He's been putting in the time for sure. Except for the distance talk, I thought it was overall one of the best in the bags I've seen.

This site doesn't really cater to the fanbro mentality. If he does something good or bad, this thread picks up. lol...

Is it because he looks like he actually will make 1000 rated by year's end? And if not, he's going to be near as makes no difference, so those who were doubting it are no longer banging that drum.

I don't throw 400+ feet with any regularity yet so perhaps I'm missing something but the discs don't seem to be in the air long enough to get the distances he's quoting in the video. And even the roller that supposedly went 600 feet didn't seem to be rolling for long enough to add the extra 150ft or so it would need.

He's just a bit too brash, loud, etc for some people. I'm glad he's playing disc golf. The sport's attitude has stagnated a bit and the norm is low emotion, expressionless faces, etc, so it's great to see some high energy from Brod. The whole 1k rated the first year thing is moot imop since he's only 6 points away now. The next step to impress the doubters will be an A-Tier or better win.

I've seen several pros up close and personal, and it's crazy how low they can throw 400+. But I also have been around long enough to realize Bro's distances in the vid were a bit off. I've seen him throw in person a few times now, (most recent a few weeks ago) he can crush and is making good progress on those low golf lines.

It's possible he's falling victim to internet distance, but I personally don't think so. I think he's being honest and he's certainly not out there measuring with UDisc. The guy owns a rangefinder and while he doesn't specifically say he's using that to measure, I would assume he is. As to why he felt like including those distances, who's to say. I guess it provides more context for the viewer as to what discs he's throwing on a course they might recognize.

Meillo 10-15-2020 10:25 AM

If you listen, the distances he talk about are all below the distances he shows on the screen. The numbers on the screen are measurements of probably varying accuracy for random shots on an open field. But what he talks about is disc golf usage of his discs. That's the relevant information.

Meillo 10-15-2020 03:45 PM

Probably an old joke but still funny: [Talking about his putter.] It works for straddle putts as well. *LOL*

I know this is off topic a bit, but does anyone know where his "Get Freaky" phrase comes from?

I think that's because he stopped going to DGPT events. not as easy to compare him to some pros I barely know about at some courses I've never seen before

nrihan 10-20-2020 01:10 AM

The 1000 rated thing is nice, but that doesn't seem to matter in the bigger picture. He'll be more interesting if he makes some lead cards, or big splashes at some the biggest tournaments.

brutalbrutus 10-20-2020 02:14 AM

I'd say that's not likely to happen for awhile. Getting to 1000 rated would be nice and all but all that really means, is he's getting beat by 6-8 strokes a round by the top 5 guys in the world. If he sticks with it and keeps putting in the same amount of work he's been apparently doing, I could see him maybe getting to 1010 or so next year if he on tour. He's certainly got the arm talent and has a solid putting game but those tour courses are a beast... even the ball golf courses. He doesn't have near enough control over his max distance that he needs to score and keep it in bounds on some of those courses.

What he really needs now, is just time on the course and in general, a refining of his game. If I were him... and if he's really serious about trying to get to the top level of pros, I wouldn't tour full time next year. Play some of the the west coast and Texas tour events, maybe a couple of the other ones like Jonesboro or ledgestone and then just keep playing those big B and A tiers around his area every weekend for another year. Play as many events as he can rather than play just the big events. He needs to be putting in the work every weekend instead of driving all over the country learning new courses while still trying to learn the game.
