I... had no idea. I scratched my head from time to time wondering how they pulled off certain configs with just 2 mold pieces.

Can you link to any more information about this process? Until this very moment I thought it was upper wing, lower wing, and that's it.

Interesting stuff. The bit about the myth of a spacer - I could have sworn I remember Dave stating the BB driver aviar had spacer... then I went back and watched the youtube vid, sure enough, no mention of a spacer. I'm not convinced they don't have some kind of spacer system.

I've always questioned the spacer because wouldn't that give us a second parting line?

Some molds, like the OLS, you can see what appears to be a double parting line
