Seems out of character. If they looked at the photo they ought to be able to see the drastic defect that by all accounts should make that disc not "factory 2nd with cosmetic flaw" but refuse, straight up. This item would clearly not pass the following requirement:
PDGA Technical standards:

(7) have a smooth surface on the bottom part of the rim; that is, a surface free of any irregularities such
as protrusions or depressions. When placed on a flat surface, the rim must have no discernible gaps
between itself and the surface on which it is resting.

I would press the matter with them. Sounds a bit like an auto reply to smaller cosmetic issues, which this clearly is not.
