Disc golf requires different body dynamics than Ulitmate does, that is the big difference. In disc golf we do not have to worry about defenders blocking our shots and we are allowed to move with the disc in hand. |
I played a round with Brodie in 2014 at Seymour Smith park in Omaha, NE. I was traveling there for work and was playing a solo round when I spotted him on the course. I'm a fan (I have played lots of ultimate) and went over to greet him. He invited me to join him for the rest of the round he was playing with employees from DiscStore.com. He was in town doing promotional work with them. He threw a Pole Cat and was not very good. Afterward we all went out for Cuban food. It was pretty freaking cool! I found Brodie to be pretty pompous and boisterous, but he seemed to have a nice heart. Definitely not someone I'd choose to be close friends with, however.

Armco, Ceasars Ford, Hidden Ridge and Southfork are 4 recent courses that should match that type of rating. SW Ohio also includes Northern Ky where Idlewild and Lincoln Ridge are located. |

Now that hell wind that is always blowing off the river, it makes that course so much harder than the layout suggests. Perhaps I need to contact you GoobyPls, before I go next year to get recommendations of where to play. |
Has Brodie Smith peaked?
|
definitely
|
|
He has a video where he throws a disc 82 MPH . . that´s faster than Eagle or Simon on CCDG . .how is that possible?
|
I’m guessing his first pdga rating will exceed 970

I want to look at it this way for a second....how many of Brodie's viewers would actually care about DG? Yes, the sheer odds say a bunch, but really? If Jomez for example put out a bunch of ultimate Frisbee content, how many of us would watch? Or care? Or immediately want to pick up the sport? It's not the right target audience.
How much really is he going to move the needle? |

Look how far GG throws and he does not put near as much effort into his drives as the other top 10 distance throwers. |
The pull has similar mechanics. Higher line due to the understability of an Ultrastar, and further from the chest due to the width. I bet Brodie is going to get distance in no time.

Simon broke 90 several times

Many comments I see on Jomez videos are along the lines of "I just stumbled upon this channel" and now they have tried + love disc golf. I think any disc golf media company would love to have Brodie interact in between holes with comments of "These guys are good" and other quirky light-hearted things. Also, him just genuinely being amazed by the skills of the top disc golfers. Seems such a WIN-WIN for a media company. I have always imagined the people who watch Brodie are the same that watch Dude Perfect - just a bunch of people with expendable time on their hands. Introduce an activity that is inexpensive and requires little effort to enjoy and I think that demographic of people are ripe to pick the game up....I mean be exploited. (Just wanted to use that word and feel the essence of being a bitter Snowflake). Take out the Bro-isms' and this cat has some celebrity that could add some legitimacy to his eligibility to participate with our royalty. <Yeah, I did that on purpose........just feeeeling the Bro'. |
It's 2020. Can we agree to leave the way overused "snowflake" in the last decade?

Nobody knows his motivations for doing this except him. Oh yeah, and this disc golf guy who thinks he's Marge Simpson warning us all about the evil Monorail salesman: Quote:

Here is Will throwing an 80 MPH GUTS throw, without an X step... and it was caught. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GCM4mUqlX8 |

You are not exploiting us by being a course designer anymore than a local Pro making some money by winning events. Being "serious" about disc golf is not a prerequisite to participate in the sport, whether for financial gain or simple fun. |

My prediction for the Brodhim:
- Won't even get a sniff of the top 20 in any major tourney. Not even close. - Courtesy violations. - Selfies - Distracting camera crew - Looses interest after half a season Like him or hate him I think this sport needs more personality and he will provide oodles of that. |
Fewer silent Heimburgs, sure. But Bro D Smith types aren't the solution either.
|
Doesn't this guy play ball golf too? I'm sure has some idea about on course etiquette...
