Congratulations to the The Valkyrie Kid on earning the highest reviewer honor on DGCR. Thank you for the wealth of information you've provided to the community and your dedication to the sport and reviewing.

I have created a very special TR "mini" for the diamond level that I hope you will enjoy.

Thank you again for your dedication to the site and the sport!

Very cool mini, and very well-deserved! Congratulations Valkyrie Kid!...

NDABRUSH 01-23-2010 12:31 PM

Ditto what tamahawk said. I really enjoy your reviews and we have similar taste and old dude arms.

jkdisc 01-23-2010 01:53 PM

DGtourist 01-23-2010 02:15 PM

Wow Tim -- nice!!

srm_520 01-23-2010 05:16 PM

Freakin cool! - It seriously love the look of the wood. What kind of wood is it?

Hell, I'd better it in gear - I'm only half way there!!!

Tim's been saving chopsticks from Panda Express for several months now.

harr0140 01-23-2010 05:21 PM

Please tell me you ordered more than 1 of those because that is frickin awesome . . . .I am gunning as hard as I can to get there. I definitely will not use the wood one on the course in fact it owuld be illegal in a PDGA even because it is too big! Would it be rude to ask you to sign the back of the wood one???

timg 01-23-2010 06:57 PM

Glad you guys like it! To answer the questions that came up, the wood is maple. I had a choice of a few but thought it would look best on that. It's not hollowed out underneath so it's a solid piece and weighs about 1 pound.

I wouldn't mind signing the back if you wanted me to. I probably should have asked Valkyrie Kid if he wanted me to sign the back, I just assumed he might not want it signed.

Also, I'll order these on an as needed basis as they are really quite expensive and take around 2 weeks to come in. I went a little crazy on it since I know diamond is very tough to achieve so I wouldn't have to be handing these things out like candy :)

Maybe you will be handing them out like candy after people see the benefit. I think it is a great thing for the game and this site to offer such a cool reward. It helps build the site and it helps build the knowledge that can be garnered from the reviews. I only hope people continue to improve their reviews. Mine have certainly taken a step up in recent weeks with my long roadtrip. Some maybe consider me wordy but I am only putting in there things that I think are generally worth mentioning. I don't think there is a lot of fluff but sometimes I may talk in circles as I have been known to do!!!! All in all I just hope people step their games up, but more importantly I hope more people use the review section to review and not just read.

Maybe if you offered premium memberships as one of the stages of TR that would get more people to write better reviews. I don't think it is easy to cheat the system, because even though I have now reviewd 160 course I still have only 5 votes per review. That would take a lot of courses to reach gold or diamond level, or a ton of votes like if someone only reviewed Flip, Idlewild, Highbridge, or the often discussed Winter Park! Maybe people need more incentive, not that it needs to come out of your pocket Timg, but maybe there is some sponsorship (perhaps you could contact the private pay to play courses and see if they want to begin advertising here). Sure they can rely on their reviews, but a couple hundred $ from them could go a long ways for this site. Maybe this should be in suggestions and not here, but it was on my mind as I typed. See what I said about talking in circles I did it again!

kirvin2 01-23-2010 08:20 PM

That is awesome and an awesome trophy too.
Congrats to Valkyrie Kid and Timg. Great jobs!!!

srm_520 01-23-2010 08:32 PM

Maple was a fantastic choice. The light color really brings out the lettering. As always you do things right! Thanks for everything you do to make this site a reality.

DGtourist 01-24-2010 03:02 AM

I like bleeding out my reviews in order to enjoy this site more. Keep my % of my played courses reviewed at like 67% Now it looks like Ill have to open up the valve a little more!

hey im only like 1/5th of the way there. slow down.

but seriously that is a great prize tim, and congrats to the king of reviews.

mashnut 01-24-2010 10:12 AM

That looks really great! Now all I need to do is write enough reviews to get 388 more thumbs up and I'm there.

Kwick 01-25-2010 11:20 AM

Congrats Valk Kid. That is an awesome honor.

I'm working my way towards bronze, and look forward to reaching that goal

zenbot 01-25-2010 11:22 AM

I think this subconsciously prompted me to write another review. I had a lot of scotch that night so my recollection is foggy.

ERicJ 01-25-2010 06:42 PM

I wonder how my stats would be if I didn't take a four month break to find a job. Oh well.

volklgirl 01-26-2010 09:48 AM

Mad props to The Valkyrie Kid!! http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies.../party0019.gif

Not at all. harr0140 does a bang up job with his reviews.
(well... with the exception of that 2-hole'er he posted that time.)

jedwards 01-26-2010 03:17 PM

That thing is pretty sweet.......but you all can keep your fancy schmancy minis -- I have in my possession the coolest ERicJ mini on the market :hfive:

DiscJunkie 01-26-2010 03:27 PM

Very nice, TimG.
Congrats, Valkyrie Kid.
I'm working to get my Bronze status back, so I know how hard you worked to get to that level.
Hat's off!!

Credit goes to jedwards for the initial artwork there. Then about a billion hours of behind the scenes work by my awesome wife to organize a surprise birthday party for me. She got 30 or so of my friends to show up for a round of night golf (doubles tourney) at our local course. She had glow sticks, mini LEDS, packs of discs pre-prepared for the non-discsers, food, drinks, trophies, and these custom made minis for everyone in a variety of colors including some glow ones. It was really cool. :D

harr0140 01-26-2010 05:02 PM

The best part about that mini is the lego man with the disc in his hand. If only my parents would have bought the disc golf lego man kit when I was a kid I would have always wanted to be like the lego man and I would have found this sport earlier. Instead I find myself trying to fly through space in my lego spacecraft. Hey it could be worse I suppose I could have some dumbass parents who pretended to send me into space in a balloon! Thats gonna be one messed up kid in the future if he isnt already messed up enough.

Nice touch of detail is that it's actually an Innova DISCarrier bag, which is what I use.

Sorry Tim
