For the most part, the extent of the Brodie conversation here is from people saying that they are tired of talking about Brodie.
He does a vid or an interview and you either watch it or you don't watch it. He plays some tourneys and you probably don't watch it because he is a couple of cards back. Which is fine. And some people buy and sell some discs. And that is really it. |

The title says "Brodie Smith...", not "Only people who like Brodie Smith...". Part of Brodie's story are the people who don't like him or his super fans or who think he's not that big of deal for disc golf, which is what the thread was about also. |

Surprising? Definitely surprised at 33 years old & less than 1 year playing serious disc golf he's 1000 rated. His short game/putting is pretty good though. |
Brodie just signed a 2 year extension with Discraft this morning.

watching any national news media these days doesn't really give you any real indication of what anyone thinks... they are all terrible. Good for Brodie and Discraft. Obviously things are going well enough for them right now to continue a working relationship. |

Also, Brodie's social media following is probably double Paul and Paige's combined, if not more. Considering that, I wouldn't be surprised if he does get a salary from Discraft since all of his content is now disc golf. |

On the pro tour, not local A tiers. Changing in the middle of the season doesn't prove any point at all. Him and his super fans were saying this would happen against the best. That's not how he got to 1000. |

On the other side, I'm thinking getting to 1000 will be tougher than he thinks since a couple of those hot 1020 and 1030 rounds will drop from his most recent 25%. |
Just saw something from him on YouTube that he signed a 2 year contract extension with discraft

I like his 2 year extension. Means that my now trusty Get Freaky will be availible long enough for me to rack up enough backups should I lose some.
I really like the predictable smallish (compared to puddled Z and flat Z Zones) skip that these get. Makes parking 125-200' FH approaches super easy. |

Product dropped today and already sold out? "If you purchase more, your order will be canceled. Bot buyers beware, we will be banning users who attempt to abuse the system." I don't bag Discraft, but I'm starting to think someone is experimenting with social media marketing/branding by building a bit of false product demand. I guess it could be legit, by only pumping out very small runs so they can increase the "sold out" hype. hmm.... https://factorystore.discraft.com/ They have a section just for Brodie, but nothing for Paul or Paige? But then... no Brodie on this page:  https://www.team.discraft.com/team-discraft |

Not sure about these particular FLX Zones, but my experience is that FLX Zones are more overstable than Z Zones.
I hear the older ESP Zones are some of the most OS, so these FLX Zones might be right up your alley. And a FLX Zone will not skip like an ESP. |
I am blissfully unaware of his social media content or tournament coverage. Don't be jealous.

I'm digging my Bro-D RB Roach in the limited time I've played in the last month. But I was asking for a Roach in this type plastic since before he signed his first DG contract.
Also like my freaky Zone. Flies like a Zone and sticks pretty well, what's not to like? |

Besides that, he's a (not too bad) player, but to Discraft this side doesn't matter really currently. If he'd really compete on the Pro Tour that'll change. In any way, Brodie is a strange outlier, and thus makes his own rules. |
First 2 rounds @ The Open at Belton, Brodie's averaging a rating of 1028.
|
Finished in 11th place but still managed an avg rating of 1010 per round.

Ezra went off round 2.

Nice to see Nate Perkins in the top ten and apparently playing well.

I wonder if Nate's inability to break the bigger tournaments is a sign that distance is valued too highly in those courses? I think his putting is excellent and his consistency of lines is top notch, he just doesn't have a booming backhand. |

On topic: I wonder if we'll see Brodie back on tour at the start of the 2021 DGPT? (answered my own question, he's signed up for DGPT Las Vegas) It should be pretty interesting to see how his second stab at the PT goes. Jumping face first into tournaments at MPO/DGPT level and then getting Lyme etc. wasn't a great first run. Having some extra tournament knowledge and having some smaller events to mix it up with a handful of touring players over the winter months seem like they should all add up to a much better performance this time around. |

Be interesting to see how Brodie does tomorrow. He's playing a c/b tier where he is the overwhelming ratings leader. 20pts higher than the next highest rated player.
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/46403 Does he indeed win or does the pressure of "he should win" get to him?... |
While I don't care for Brodie as a person (I tried talking to him after a tournament and he brushed me off....other pros chatted with me and Brodie wasn't busy or talking to anyone else at the time), I do respect his ability. I also respect his decision to pull out of the pro tour until he gets more experience - at least he tried. Some people seem to think Brodie 'owes' more since he is sponsored by Discraft and tutored by Paul McBeth...but that's not his fault, Discraft wants to profit off his fame/following and Paul chose to teach him.
I wanted to learn how to throw a scoober since there have been a couple of times it would have come in handy. I watched a few videos on it, but it wasn't until I saw Brodie's video that I really understood it....he did an excellent job of describing how to throw it and when/why to throw it. I wish him the best in the lower tiers and look forward to him getting back to the pro tour. |

Nathan Queen 1011 Jeremy Novak 997 the next pro's rating was 60 less than Jeremy's. Nathan "walked" away with the win. |

Some pretty hot takes on the pro tour from Brodie. Cutting the field after 2nd round, payouts, no next day live coverage. wowza...
