This is absolutely a true statement. They do fly similar and most people do must skip over that speed 6 range and go straight to speed 7 or 8, then lots of people skip the 9-10 range and go to 11+.

I was guilty of it, until I realized I play much better in those speed ranges. I can throw faster stuff, but definately not as well.

I think people that throw speed 6 for fairway and speed 9-10 for drivers are more line shapers, while the speed 7-8 fairway and 11+ tend to be more bomber style throws. Not saying ones better than the other, just different styles. Some courses suit bombers better, some line shapers.

I have one DX Gazelle, and I like it a lot. I find it easy to be consistent with the Gaz.

has it beat in enough to turn over like crazy? That's when I find it as it's best. Great for tunnel shots

Mine is almost new Dx, flies straight but would like it to turnover a bit more.
Guess I have to hit some trees.

Throw some forehand rollers, don't hit trees. A hard tree hit can put it out of commission. Lol

I carry two on me at all times when I'm playing disc golf, 1 beat up, one newer. Getting some Glo's for Xmas I believe. That'll be sweet.

I'd say roll a dozen or so, then see how it flys. I personally just throw it every hole to break it in. Even 100ft approaches lol. I'm pretty accurate with it from most ranges.

I've heard of the Gazelle but never thrown one. It sounds like it could be worth checking out for me. Off the tee I throw TB's if the hole is 300' or greater. Anything less than that I'll throw an Axis, Vector or Wizard depending.

Would this overlap with the Vector? It's a tad faster and a touch less stable. Maybe I'll pick up a DX on my next order just to give it some throws :)

zombee at all like a gazelle
 

Don't hate me for asking this, but is the 2012 ace race disc (zombee) similar to a gazelle? I have not thrown a gazelle, but I love the zombee, it seems like their flight characteristics would be similar.

I've been throwing gazelles since '98 and I HATED that ace race disc; I wouldn't compare the two at all.

Back to Gazelle. PhillyMatt is awesome, I can't wait to try it out.

The "Zombee" seemed much more OAT sensitive. It also had more turn. I've never thrown a Cheetah, but I'd rate the Zombee at 6,4,-2,2. I was hoping they'd be like 11X Gazelles in flight so I could stop blowing my paycheck hoarding them, but they aren't. Didn't HATE the zombee, but it's not better than a Gazelle, Leopard, River, or FD.

A Q Polaris LS would be closer to the 11x gazelle in flight and they are still currently available.

A heavy ESP Cyclone is actually pretty similar to a good 11x Gazelle. The plastic isn't as great, but the flight is very similar.

What would the closest L64 disc be to a new fresh max wt. DX Gazelle?

Maybe a heavy opto river, but lat64 and westside don't have an answer yet. The stag might be close when.

Whats the profile like on the Gateway Apache?

I'm not looking for a replacement, just an alternative for the cold winter months so my dx disc breakage risk can be reduced.

What about the CFR Glow Champ GZ's? anyone using those for a premium plastic option?

Not quite, but it's getting there. I love the straight control shots I'm getting now with it. It's one of the most comfortable discs to throw as well.

Apache has more of a leopard rim with a small bead.

I don't know from personal experience but, from Marshall Streets flight chart, the gazelle is in a lonely spot, it's closest neighbor on the chart is the gremlin. At inboundsdiscgolf.com the gazelle and discmania's gremlin have an almost identical flight path (if you believe in this site, not sure if I do). I would respectfully disagree that the river would be a suitable replacement, it has a lot of turn. The whole purpose of a gazelle is to have no turn.

It's pretty domey. Nice disc though.

The closest match would be a 165-170 Goldline River. They start out a tad more HSS compared to a Gazelle but with some seasoning they are close. I used to throw DX Gazelles but just got tired of replacing them every couple of months. I play mostly heavily wooded courses and DX plastic has a very short life span. I still like using Gazelles for long turnovers though.

^^^they do have a very similar flight, if you're talking similar plastics (champ glow gazelle-S-GM, DX Gazelle-D-GM), but the gremlin is much more of a mid, while the Gazelle is diffinetly a driver. The Gremlin is a long mid, but still a mid.

The gazelle does feel like a mid to me.

I have a DX Gazelle, and while it still looks great, it seems to have lost a lot of its initial stability since i got it a couple months ago. It flies very similar to my Diamond now.

Save up the mine you were spending n the dx ones and buy a kc pro
