I saw Jomez claiming that Eagle through a C-line Tactic during the Maple Hill DGPT. Did they run this in c-line, or was it Opto (or whatever Discmania calls Opto) plastic?
|
Thats a funky one. They did it in new C-line (i.e. "Italian blend"). Likely a goodish while if ever, before it makes its way to consumers. First instance of a Frankenstein combination (plastic from one line injected into a mold from another) that I know of.

My guess is that Jussi is finding out that making discs isn't that easy. They had more production with Innova I think, considering we have seen such few discs made so far. Maybe the discs are made and on there way, getting late in the year though.
|
Cloudbreaker 3's/other tour series prioritized + ramp up for Holiday mystery boxes most likely. Still haven't seen Perkins/Montgomery/Klein tour series discs this year. Maybe the upcoming DM hosted DGPT match play championships or USDGC will see some of those drop.
First batch of stock production P2s are reaching dealers now with release date in a couple weeks. They had the giveaways for C-line MD3 and DD3 prototypes in the past month which have been arriving at their destinations. Still plenty of Evolution and Active line discs available on shelves, just not the new Splice/Mutant & limited Tilt. Being prepared for the holiday season demand and start of 2022 'season' are likely reasons for the slow rollout of their own DM produced discs. |
Flex 2 D-line P2s drop on Sep 21st.

and I think vendors will have them then, but I'm not sure about that. |
For sure on the website at least. For vendors, depends on the vendor if they have gotten them in storage, but I've seen social media posts where they have a box of em that says do not sell before 21 sep 9 mountain time (iirc).

I don't use youtube or Instagram all that often but wanted to share my experience with the new prototype dd3. The plastic is grippy and somewhat firm. A lot firmer than previous runs of c line. I have thrown the disc probably 10 times in a field and it is holding up well. It never landed on gravel or hit a tree, but I still believe this plastic will be as durable as the Innova c line. The flight is a bit more OS compared to a flat s line dd3 max weight, a domey s line dd3 max, and a domey s line dd3 167 gr. It's by no means a pd2 but it definitely comes out of a flex for me sooner than the others. I can throw 380-400 or so on a perfect line and conditions, but I'd say 340-360 is my consistent distance so factor that into my experience. I'm glad I got the chance to try this out early and can't wait to see the rest of the lineup in some new Discmania plastic.

Sorry boss, let me go throw it in a parking lot for you. Sorry the review didn't suit your standards.

(Kinda true though) |
Looks like the stock run of P2 releases Sept 21st per DM site, and a vendor is limited to one box of 46 putters (according to one random YouTube video).

i haven't given up on discmania discs (used to bag around 50% discmania 50% innova) but I did sell off whatever I could replace with innova equivalents for now.
i sold off all my DD3, MD3, MD4, P2 and PD because i loved those discs but its prohibitively expensive to try to keep throwing them as well as finding backups in case of loss/breaking discs/etc. i figured the prices were so high for those last old school discmania discs it was a good way to just buy replacements with the offset prices i was selling them for. was sad though, like giving up perfectly awesome discs that I actually threw (didn't collect or planned to flip) and had so many sentimental memories where cardmates would ask (dang what disc was that?) I'd say something like... "it's a PD its like a mellow firebird with monster forward progressing skip" or "this is a P2 its an overstable aviar" and a week later that guy had a PD and P2 in the bag and he was raving about how much he loved the new discs. there was a time when you could buy the discs at retail, then they got popular and pandemic (which is a good thing - popularity and not discmania's fault - pandemic) made discmania releases and even just stock crazy expensive. i understand al the manufacturers discs rose in prices due to pandemic induced scarcity. I'm going to wait maybe 1-2 years with the new original's line until they get a steady stream of stock and prices won't be so prohibitive... then maybe get back into discmania stuff. I did keep all my FD's though. I was lucky enough to build up enough backups and couldn't find the equivalent in innova (tried the leo3 and teebirds) and well I love the FD and wanted to keep at least one discmania disc mold in the bag because I still love the brand and hold out hope that Dismania discs original lines will be available at stock/retail pricing in the future. |

My DM premium portfolio consists of - I used NS1, 2 NS3, 2 RT and 5 DM2. I generally bag a DM2, love the NS1 but can't convince myself to bag it. Pretty silly what those 10 discs are worth. Edit - I forgot about my 2 second run FDs, haven't bagged them in a while. Curious what they're worth these days. |

it was a miracle to even make a bag with those discmania discs in 2021 without spending a fortune, but i traded some of my pricy innova stuff for what I needed and instantly regretted when the NS1 FD would hit off a tree into a pile of leaves in december in near darkness during glow rounds. the 2nd run FD can net anywhere from 80-150$ depending on color/weight/condition. i remember building up a stack of 2nd run FD just because in the beginning people hated them because they were so much more overstable than regular FD and I just wanted to simplify my # of molds and got rid of my brinster teebirds for the 2nd run FD. I ended up selling them off for $40 each and felt guilty way back in 2016 for selling them off for that much. lol |
3 md3s and 5 fds for me, but I really wish I had picked up more md3s back in the day. especially color glow! I also knew a kid who collected a lot of discmania and then switched brands, so I could have gotten a fat stack of md3s for cheap... d'oh. hopefully discmania will be able to produce some of the new ones in premium plastics like that with similar results

My wife has a 150 class 12x Firebird, couple Champion Rocs and CE Leopard. None are bubbly. What was Innova doing before the Bubbly Blizzards.
Her old 150 class gems are nice. |

Maybe by having less weighting agents in the light discs they were getting more F2 discs for some reason? So they decided that going blizzard was more cost effective? Just my guess anyways. Or maybe the weighting agents are already added prior to purchasing the plastics? Someone knows. |

So now it’s a more dense plastic and negatives are used to bring weight down instead of vice versa. Old 150 class plastic was always super gummy also, weighting agent stiffened it up a bit for heavier weights? Disc design itself comes into play also, wider rimmed discs have more mass along the outer edge. So do sales numbers, for a long time manufacturers claimed that light weight discs just don’t sell. I think that’s shifted somewhat in more recent years, but lighter weight stuff is still a minority. |

If you haven’t seen the P2 commercial (the one with the Alpacas) it’s pretty funny.
Also, tomorrow is the big day where everyone who wants some P2’s can get some. I’ll check fifteen minutes after the launch to see if they’re sold out. |
The biggest store here in Sweden got 900pc P2s . . sold out i a few hours.
"demand a fully meet" . . |
Well, tried to get some white ones. As usual, was logged in and added two to my cart immediately and used Apple Pay to check out quickly but they sold out.
Managed to add a couple of gray ones to the cart but was unable after several attempts to check out due to some sort of payment processing error so I gave up. Oh, well. |
