So how does the cores of say Tangent and Matrix differ, other than diameter? The rim shape is obiviously different but given a flat core how much variation there can be? Diameter and maybe thickness and thus weight? So could they just make a Tangent2, Axis2 etc with same rims combined with the core of Matrix?

Indeed what would you get if you combine axis rim with matrix core?

You would be surprised. In my experience MVP does not often replicate a process wirhout making incremental improvements. For example the "lock and key" mechanics where the two pieces of the discs come together has evolved quite a bit to where it is now like a little zipper. I'm sure there are countless differences between older core molds and newer ones.

Yeah, just looking at the profiles on MVP site there seems to be quite a bit difference jn the "inner rim" parts of the core as well. But I wonder how much the lock mechanics affect the flights as the do not effect the profiles. Although they might alter the weight distribution so...

I can't imagine, from a marketing perspective, why MVP would drop this announcement without announcing a new mid as a quick follow up. I mean we have been handed a very tangible negative, yet only the promise of positive things. You have our attention MVP....

They did announce Electron Matrix, but yeah, why not wait until they actually have new mold(s) ready to be released? On the other hand, now people will buy backups as the future is uncertain, and then new improved versions when they are released. If the announcement was closer to new releases, then at least I would first buy the new version and depending whether I like it, I would buy more old ones or just switch to new mold.

In general I like shaping lines with neutral discs, so I use my straightest disc in each class almost always. I only bump up to more overstable or down to more understable when dictated by a more extreme line or wind conditions. So the Proxy gets like 90% of my putter drives and I only switch for head/crosswinds or fade/flex. For this purpose the Envy just doesn't do the job as well as the Particle.

It's not just the Axis, it's about a dozen molds. Go look at the new Infinite Disc thread comparing MVP /Axiom /Streamline sales.

Thanks for taking the time to link those, Mike. That's how my Octane was flying new with a little bit of headwind (I have a pretty big arm but not as big as yours) but now it's flipping over when there's wind unless I really power it down.

I have also been playing around with a Proton wrath and really liking it, but it's 166 so even though I've had good luck with it I don't really trust it into a headwind not to turn too much. Guess I'll have to stock up on a few of em now that it's going OoP with the Clash.. Need some Neutron Atoms too I guess. I think everyone's bag is gonna be going through some growing pains in the near future.

I actually couldn't be happier about the electron matrix. It's probably my favorite mid ever and I LOVE mids. Throw them a lot off the tee in the woods. A flippy matrix would make me sooooo happy. Got my first ace with a proton matrix the first time I teed off with it actually lol
