How does the flight of the Atom compare to an Ion? Do you know? Im thinking about switching up my putters.
I know the rim is different an all. Just wondering about the glide and fade compared to the Ion.

I spin putt

Ion is deeper and has a big bead(think wizard/KC Aviar). Atom is shallow with a micro bead(think envy with a bit less fade). Ion should have more fade and glide.

Atom is faster as well and even more shallow than an Envy...but most importantly, square finger friendly.

Emoney, if you want to try something more shallow but still has some glide, try a Pilot. Its pretty neutral though if you were wanting something more OS like an Envy/Ion.

I like the fade of the Ion, it just feels like i have to throw it harder than i want to, to get it to the basket. Lots of cage hits, especially when i have to putt outside the circle.

Will a pilot or atom give me more speed with less effort?

In theory...:D... yes, the lower profile should help. Plus, the micro bead they both have should help with cleaner releases on a spin putt.

Feelwise, the pilot is a round nose and the Atom is more of a blunt nose.

If you have an electron Envy thats a little beat in, that basically how they both fly. Pilot is -1 1. Atom is 0 1(according to their numbers anyway;))

Pilot carries, with less effort. How you feel about Ion is same as I feel about putting with Proxy. Pilot is same as Proxy in terms of putting flight but keeps going rather than drops... relatively. I have an Electron Pilot fwiw

Another shrill for the Pilot. Great glide with just a touch of stability. It feels like a mashup of the Envy class and the Ion class. It has a higher shoulder like the Ion class (especially in the new Cosmic Neutron and Firm Electron releases) so it will have a similar feel as the Ion in the upper part of the hand. However the disc has a thinner profile like the Envy class. It does have a micro bead that is hardly noticeable and with Electron it buffs down to smooth after a few rounds. The glide also increase with usage. Love throwing the Soft and Firm Electron Pilots (can't wait for the official release of the Firms, just Winter Circuit release for now).

Yeah thats what im worried about with the pilot. I think the Atom sounds like what im looking for.

So for a putter lineup im thinking Atom/Envy/Entropy. Seems like that should cover all putt and approach in all conditions? Also all will have a similar enough rim feel?

Am i off base with this?

brutalbrutus 06-13-2019 05:03 PM

I haven't actually held an Entropy yet but the envy and atom are fairly similar in feel.
