Yeah dude. Tickless Rick all day and you got yourself a ballgame. Well, a disc game to be exact.

Not elitist but just dont enjoy watching subpar throws when it not myself or my buddies throwing. A lot of the time I dont watch them either. Makes looking for the discs a PITA

So, the question is then, will he have coverage on Friday?

Given DGN's attempted format of "covering the story" and not shot-by-shot coverage, it's not unreasonable to think they might check in on him during the round regardless of placement.

What so many are missing is that Brodie knows how to build a narrative beyond what anyone else has ever done in disc golf.

Yes, he has earned feature card exposure regardless how he plays in the tourney.

I found Brodie's channel through disc golf, not the other way around, but following the story of an accomplished athlete entering the sport has been fun. I paid for a month of DGN simply to tune in tonight. I'm probably not alone in that. So I'd say he's right where he belongs.

I didn't like Brodie at first but more I see his videos, more I like him. All the doubts I had about the Brodie thing vanished.
He seems very realistic about his level and many people start playing disc golf because of his videos.
I wish him only the best and I hope he will play well today. He won't play great of course, but good would be already a nice thing.
I'm glad he is on the lead card. He doesn't deserve it for his level but I think he deserves it for all the good he does to disc golf.

More likely is he will be inconsistent and nobody will ever shut up.

The thought of you averting your eyes in a casual setting to spare yourself the anguish of another subpar throw- but not being an elitist- is going to get me through this day with a smile.

Flick Maniac 03-12-2020 08:08 AM

You talk like you know me :D Its a joke dude.

chosenmatrix 03-12-2020 08:33 AM

Imagine how much dgcr run it would get if brodie, weema, and joe bishop all showed up to the same tourney.

Moose33 03-12-2020 08:58 AM

His skills are coming together, but this game is harder than it seems. I wouldn’t be shocked if he throws up a 1000 rated round, but his rating probably won’t be there for some time.

VictorB 03-12-2020 09:12 AM

Bro-D Rubber blend Roaches coming soon. If these are like the Matt Bell Steadys, Roach throwers are in for a treat (not to mention not having to see the dumb artwork)

Yep, after tomorrow he won't be on a featured/lead card for...some time. Maybe featured at the next big Discraft tourney. Maybe.

But he will likely have his rounds filmed Friday and Saturday, for his YouTube channel. I'd say it's not unlikely that he has some impressive throw-in or something that generates hype. "Brodie's Top 10 Throws of the Week" or whatever.

And in that case, more power to him. I'll watch it. But also, running hard for big throw-ins will cost him a lot of throws...especially at The bEast.

If Brodie is smart (and I think he is), he will lean on the sidearm in the woods as much as he can. Having a top sidearm you enter the sport is HUGE for course management on the 12 of the 18 holes.

He had some pretty bad air bounces at WTO. he has been working on them, but the ceilings are going to be really low there, he would really need that forehand dialed in.

I've never seen anyone air bounce a forehand. You mean he threw it nose up, right?

DiscFifty 03-12-2020 10:33 AM

^^ To my eyes, he's not coming across level, he brings his arm down and then back up causing what appears to be, an air bounce. Plus he does suffer a bit of nose up as well.

Moving your arm down and then up will not create an air bounce either. An air bounce can only be created by moving your arm downward throughout the release. I guess the final flick could make it look like he's moving his arm upwards at the end. He seems to refer to his issue as nose-up and Paul has advised him of that (as seen in some video or other).

The more I think about it a forehand air bounce does seem possible but backhands are where it can have a really pronounced effect.

watching the practice round on Jomez, I am putting the over/under for Brodie at +10.

Cgkdisc 03-12-2020 01:33 PM

At the moment, +8 is close to his first round rating of 923. So +10 is not unreasonable considering the scores a few others with higher ratings are posting mid-round with more OB ahead in the finishing holes.

dscmn 03-12-2020 02:08 PM

His signature discs will only be made in Bro-D.

I'm guessing he shoots a +2

Horsman 03-12-2020 02:48 PM

That practice round on Jomez is just really enjoyable to watch. Ill take the under on +10

DiscFifty 03-12-2020 03:02 PM

His 923 round was with only a few high rated players. I predict a 950+ rated round for Brodie.

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:07 PM

Well... I had an extra $10 left over from my new laptop purchase so I went ahead and sub'd so I could watch how this plays out. Watching the feed now and it is very windy out there...

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:12 PM

Inside circle1 on a not so easy starting hole in the wind... and especially with what I'm sure are a bunch of nerves.

Flubbed the putt though, lol

Good layup, get that first hole nerves out of the way.

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:19 PM

2 for 2 inside circle1. Gotta better chance at birdie on this one though.

Bigtex 03-12-2020 03:21 PM

Brodie's caddie is looking professional af

Flick Maniac 03-12-2020 03:22 PM

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:23 PM

Gets the bird

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:30 PM

A bit out of position on the elevated basket for hole 4 lays up for par. Heading into the woods now.

Still better commentary than Jamie Thomas.

Bigtex 03-12-2020 03:41 PM

brodie throwing a scoobie inside circle 2

Martin Dewgarita 03-12-2020 03:41 PM

Struggling through the woods. Getting his first bogey with the first scoober that doss has ever seen, lol.

aredoubles 03-12-2020 03:42 PM

Screws up the approach on hole 4, yanking the forehand Zone. Then does a weird little scooby lay-up?
Other than that surprise, he's playing quite safe and conservative so far, which is smart.
Meanwhile Paul freaking posterized hole 4, I think that's the best I've ever seen this hole played.

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:42 PM

Party commentary :D

JuanA 03-12-2020 03:45 PM

I'm reading these comments with Nate and Jeremy's voice in my head.

Martin Dewgarita 03-12-2020 03:46 PM

Larry Kirk looks fired up

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:48 PM

Good par save after a meh lay up

Bigtex 03-12-2020 03:54 PM

I'm no brodie fanboy but it's hard not to root for him.

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:55 PM

Nice comeback putt after giving a good run and getting a roll away on his par attempt. +1 now

Bigtex 03-12-2020 03:58 PM

Brodie just pured his drive on hole 7

brutalbrutus 03-12-2020 03:58 PM

Nice drive on a tough teeshot on 7 and gave a bit of an MJ impression turning his back before it even cleared the corner, lol
