That post by JT was 17wks ago... but he sure didn't have much trouble praising him today, lol. Just goes to show why every time you have a thought, you might want to think about it before posting it on twitter...

I’m now a Brodie fan. |
I didn't expect much from Brodie, but have even less respect for JT.

976 rated round. Like that Monkees song..... (feel free to comment if you're old enough to know wtf I'm talking about.) lol...

Most of his game looked solid. . but he needs to put those short approches closer to the basket, he was way short a few times and that cost him 3-4 strokes
But he played GOOD, far better than me and i have been playing for 20y :) Impressed with his putting, lots of nerves on a round like that. . .just saw that video where Uli played "2020 Winter at the Bud" and he played with players in the 950-990 rated range, , and their putting "on camera" was NOT good att all |

Makes those of us that are on the fence about buying into the network coverage say”no thanks”! |

Of course he was kissing his ass on broadcast yesterday, he didn't want to eat crow on live stream. |

Did anyone watch the pre-tourney interview with Jeff Spring and Brodie? I can't get the link, sorry. But I thought that it was quite good and nicely professional.

First and foremost - DGPT is in the business of marketing their product. Putting Brodie on this lead card (as a 'local' Texan) absolutely made the most sense. Jamie is trashing them because they picked Brodie specifically, not a single thing would be said if it was someone else (which it has been in recent years) Side note - putting your empolyer on blast on a national platform like that, when you're supposed to be helping market their event (ie he's part of the product and should want people to listen to him) is really just dumb |
So JT has appointed himself as the gatekeeper of disc golf?

If I was more active in broadcasting my opinions, I might have said something similar three months ago, and I'd probably be eating crow at this point. I guess I'm just lucky that I didn't actually say it out loud. |
...sometimes our opinions are antithetical to growing the sport, sometimes we double down on our opinions 2 days ago on our podcast....
It'd be one thing if Brodie was a complete scrub, but he's not. And he's bringing in new players. As a new player myself, his videos with Paul are excellent learning material. He's really good at drawing out little tips and tricks from McBeth that you don't get anywhere else. |

The alternative is everyone afraid to say anything, and that's backwards and definitely not the route we want this internet experiment to go down. JT means well, his heart is in the right place, you gotta give him rope to make a few slip ups. |
I have been very impressed by Brodie.
He must have felt so much pressure but he handled it very well. I can't imagine putting that well in front of the cameras for my first tournament when many people want me to fail. Good job Brodie, it was legit to think he would play bad but instead it was very promising. |
Disc golf is currently having a debate about a commentator that stated a player who was on a live broadcast is not serious about disc golf and only it in to gain additional fame and money.
If that doesn't prove growth, I don't know what does. |

But imagine saying the statement I did 10 years ago. You would have been locked up and tested for mental issues. |

I had a different opinion than someone else in this thread and wasn't called names.:clap: |

:p I'm not sure why Smith dug up that screenshot of a four-month old facebook post and fired up this debate anyway. His round received generally positive feedback from what I saw, we could have just rolled with that. |
+1 thru 2 to start today's round...
|
Took a dubogey on 4 then birdied 5.
|
Another birdie on 6 back to +1 for the round

Lol... why do you care what I do? I mean ****, you might as well get used to clogged threads since there is going to be a lot of people working from home or unemployed over the next couple months...
Oh and 3 birdies in a row...:p |

I'm enjoying looking at Brodie's whole card on UDisc Live, it's enlightening me to the level of play that pros in the middle of the pack exhibit. I don't get exposed to this normally because I usually only watch lead card coverage of late rounds. His drives and C1 putting seem as good if not better than his cardmates but he's converted 0/4 C2 putts and failed to scramble effectively (what does that actually mean anyway?!) and that seems to be why he's not stretching ahead of his cardmates.
brutalbrutus, it's almost like I'm there! |

on the par train currently.

Impressive birdie on 10

So on a par4 that would mean not getting inside circle 1 in two throws and on par 3's it would be not inside circle 1 off the tee. |

Their card is quite quick, seems to keep bumping up against the cards in front.
