Did she post his round on YouTube?

Or perhaps Prodigy ponied up the money beforehand and you're just trying to be edgy?

DaveyRockets, you opened the can so here's more speculation to get you caught up -

Discraft did start to move into new ways of thinking after Gail McColl passed away and Jim Kenner semi-retired around late 2017. They realized it was the archer that sold the arrows and not the arrows themselves anymore. Plus, by 2018 anyone with access to an injection-molding machine seemed to be making discs, and **** good ones too, so they made the big offer to McBeth. Ta-da, they immediately sell more than they can print just as soon as Jomez posts a 5-minute video of him chucking his new molds all over Turner Park and DGCR has its first million-page thread full of even more newbies than the ones Covid has now brought us.

I got more speculations, plenty more, just ask. :D

I'm snarkily referring to how a player managed to find a way around both the $5k fee and the covid restrictions against family members/caddies. He played great, he/they won but it was not looked upon too nicely among other players. But they did follow the rules.

And I don't follow the Dickersons on YT so I don't know.
If you want to read about my edginess, check out my AMA landscapers thread in the Water Cooler.

In case anyone doesn't understand yet, Innova pays to rent a golf course for this tournament.

I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming there is some cost sharing to pay for media as well (with the expectation that the title sponsor will see the most return on media costs).

So why wouldn't it make sense to prohibit competing media/manufacturers from filming and potentially making a profit?

I keep seeing new players go on and on about how private courses are the future, then this comes up again year after year and I just laugh.

I wonder if this could have a trickle down effect to other tournaments when the TD (or maybe the primary sponsor?) has to rent a course (have it closed to the public, etc). They could certainly do something similar and charge a media license during the duration of the rented property. Either way, it was a bit snarky to say anyone not sponsored by Innova had to ante up the 5k.

I think the DGPT and or the PDGA will be forced to establish some kind of rules regarding this in the coming year(s), at least for sanctioned events.

We are literally basing this entire conversation on two vague tweets. lol

for anybody that is interested, here is the media policy in question

Now I would like to point out I am not 100% sure Brodie or Hanna are really complaining about the $5k but merely just explaining to their fans why they aren't filming there. I read Hanna's tweet as, "Hey this is why we aren't doing what we normally do so what do you peeps want to see?" and then Brodies retweet was along the line of, "discuss this topic."

Should players have to pay money to film practice rounds? Does this make any sense?
the "does this make any sense?" part does not sound like just explaining the situation to me

I know the issue stemmed from other companies using the beautiful course to shoot promotional content like commercials etc. I understand that. But YouTube channels promoting the event ? It’s not like I’m using it to do a disc review for Discraft lol
sure doesn't sound like explaining to me

not on twitter, but - https://imgur.com/a/q9aHUCW
sounds like complaining to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

davetherocketguy 02-25-2021 07:48 AM

Ok I didn't see either of those tweets. And frankly, I see nothing wrong with this media policy at all. And being the golf honk that he is Brodie should be familiar with how the PGA handles these same situations. I worked at a PGA event several years ago and they had an almost identical policy as I recall and no one batted an eye...

that's fair! my response could've done with less snark. par for the course for me

these tweets from the DGPT make the situation a bit more confusing:
in response to hannah:Folks should probably check with the DGPT who owns and operates all media rights at DGPT events before speculating. Phone didn’t ring. *thinking face*
and then: We love Hannah! She’s part of our DGN team! Just loop us in next time and we [email protected] it happen *HandshakeFlexed biceps*

in response to brodie: Check with the organization that owns and manages the event media rights next time 🙋*♂️🙋*♀️

(the emojis are integral to the tweets and I had to include them best I could)

VictorB 02-25-2021 09:20 AM

how dumb do I feel right now...I didn't even realize that LVC was a DGPT event this year.

Considering that - I don't know how the DGPT has any say over media rights outside of the actual tournament. Innova does all of the setup and logistics for getting the course reserved/ready for competition.

BuiltTooLong 02-25-2021 10:49 AM

DGPT has said they own media rights for the week and that players ARE ALLOWED TO FILM PRACTICE ROUNDS.

Superbford 02-25-2021 10:51 AM

Here is the good news.... Tournament starts today.... so now its all about playing.

oldmandiscer 02-25-2021 11:19 AM

Rules are made to be broken, they should have filmed anyways.

brutalbrutus 02-25-2021 12:41 PM

-5 on the front9 and t-5th but a lot of the heavy hitters haven't started yet.

Please don't play in one of my tourney's then. I don't need that headache.

brutalbrutus 02-25-2021 01:49 PM

Looks like i gave my special BB's Hoodoo Curse to him, lol...

1 bird and 6 pars so far on the back9.... and he had to throw it in from 80ft to get it.

Still in 5th place though somehow

Jolt 02-25-2021 02:02 PM

Nice round but i think those 3 missed C1 putts will be om his mind for some time

Stupid rules anyways. Do you always drive under the speed limit? See you break the rules too.

Intentionally breaking the rules is cheating and is a DQ. Seems like a pretty easy solution.

Yea... but who knows how the wind was for those putts. Guess we'll find out though when gatekeeper releases their post pro for rd1

brutalbrutus 02-25-2021 02:16 PM

Unofficial 1032 but i imagine that will drop a couple points by the end of the day unless the wind picks up even more in the afternoon for the "lead" groups...

I guess Castro was right... He just tied Brodie for 5th...:D

Superbford 02-25-2021 02:51 PM

-7 down for first round. Not a bad start.

It is a VERY easy solution. Still a headache though no matter how it goes down.

You know what is really holding the sport back?

All of these big rules.

We should make them smaller.

brutalbrutus 02-25-2021 03:03 PM

Hmm... up to 1037 now lol

DiscFifty 02-25-2021 10:29 PM

I knew Brodie had improved a bit, but to shoot just 4 strokes shy of the 10 million dollar kid is insane.

That's a good start. But we also need to get rid of ALL of the trees in the fairway. It makes everything too gimmicky. Then we need to b**** about boring, wide open courses with nothing in the fairway as obstacles. That's why they put up all those gimmicky OB ropes and raised baskets. ;)

Jolt 02-26-2021 04:39 AM

So Brodie and Paige shot a 52 . . .but nice round by Brodie, top 20 and alot of good player behind him

davetherocketguy 02-26-2021 06:29 AM

After this tourney is done I wonder what Brodies next twitter hot take is going to be...

davetherocketguy 02-26-2021 06:31 AM

So all the handwringing over the $5k charge was a nothingburger.

Jolt 02-26-2021 07:51 AM

He had a few tournaments last year where he started hot but lost his momentum in the later rounds, hope he can keep the good rounds going this year.

So basically he didn't bother asking the DGPT and just went online to complain?

Which caused negative backlash against Innova and the DGPT.

Sounds super professional.

Seems to me to be Brodie's M.O at this point. B***ch and complain about everything and anything just to get the clicky clicks.

runningoz 02-26-2021 04:30 PM

Whoever said Brodie is the most athletic player in Vegas, clearly hasn's seen Ezra A. Dude is bringing the pythons

Sean Tapley might be more athletic.

ToddL 02-26-2021 05:30 PM

D1 ultimate or D1 football?

Someone from innova told him. Doesn’t seem like he needed to verify it.

zontar 02-26-2021 07:20 PM

Is this whole thing extremely silly or am I missing something?
