I have a few in the two that are heavier. But most were.

captain jack 07-15-2014 03:48 PM

50 is cheap, go look them up on Ebay, or at Clearwater, they go for close to a hundy now.

PhillyMatt 07-15-2014 03:52 PM

the ones on ebay sit there for months so they are not a good judge of price

I know I'd pay 50 for a mint wall hanger. but for a thrower i wouldn't want to spend more then an 11x thrower. even though they are rarer.

E_Rock25 07-15-2014 04:16 PM

Here is a mint 154 CE Gazelle

I wish! I am pretty fond of G* so far. I was disappointed that the jolly launcher factory store Gazelles were only max weight, and while it was cool that they made the Pegasus in G* out of nowhere, it would have been way cooler to see Gazelles, in a variety of weights. I have resorted to throwing my 11X with G* FDs and TeeBirds, but they aren't the same.

TheBMeistor 07-16-2014 01:17 AM

Well they just put up Cheetahs again, I wouldn't put it past them to do another premium run of Gazelles in the near future. G* Gazelle would be alright by me.

So what are you Gazelle throwers pairing with them for understable stuff? I can get my beat DX Gaz to do nice turnovers from anny but not from flat. Thinking the answer is Leopard (Pro?) but just curious what else people are throwing with them.

I use a Pro Leopard for this, or a DX if I REALLY want it to turn. DX beats in to super flippy, but a powered down DX Leopard is a thing of beauty. And by "powered down" I mean full power for me. You could also try the Cheetah, as someone mentioned before. I've also used Underworlds in this slot, but they're a tick faster than Gazelles, Leos, and Cheetahs.

Those CE ones can go for a lot, but not as much as the CE star stamped ones. I got a lightly used one of those with ink on TOP (dumbass) for an even hundred, and still felt like I'd gotten a good deal.

GStar Gazelles! At the Innova factory store. Hopefully this is the first run/proto of these and they'll be coming our way as regular production runs. Just wanted to let those other Gazelle fans out there know, enjoy!

E_Rock25 07-25-2014 08:40 PM

Well then maybe i will have to get me a few. Thanks for the tip

I love the throw back to the field dressed gazelle stamp! I just told myself no more disc buying and they release this beauty!

I've been avoiding buying from the factory store because their shipping is pretty ridiculous to Michigan and I have a $150 gift card to my local disc shop I still have to use. They tempt me more and more every week and I just couldn't pass on the gstar gazelle! My search for the perfect fairway driver is over.

TheBMeistor 07-25-2014 11:02 PM

Grrrr! Just when I thought I could get by without a purchase for a bit.

BogeyNoMore 07-25-2014 11:34 PM

I was weak :o Just bought 2 Pro Gazelles from the factory store.

blammo 07-26-2014 12:21 AM

Got a teal 165-169 and a purple 170-172. Anyone know if there were pinks? Or blues and purples in the 165-169g range? I didn't see they were released till midnight :(

I have a pro Gazelle in my bag and two backups is the only reason I didn't spring for a G* one. That, and I just received a $75 order from the pro shop the day before the G* was announced. My timing is terrible!

TheBMeistor 07-26-2014 05:54 PM

I was waiting just for this, had a feeling they would drop these after the new run of Cheetahs.

Bought a G* and a pro. Waitin to see how they throw before I commit to more. I will say I am loving Gazelles these days though. Pretty sure I'm gonna sell off my Eagles.

Got my shipment in today, and these are beautiful discs. I ordered a few 175g teals. Kinda hoped they would be brighter though. Maybe they will look brighter in some good sun?

Oh well. Can't wait to throw them! Anybody else care to share their awesome Gazelles?

That's a good looking stamp there.
This is tempting. Gazelles were my primary drivers in the late 90s. Might be interesting to throw a Gstar one now.

They didn't give me a flag stamp

All pics are Pro on left G* right
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums...ictureid=32360

My DX is too thrashed to compare PLH but they don't look far off, not like the circle stamp champs anyways.

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums...ictureid=32359

Only thing is a little more dome on the G*, I think I am gonna like it a lot.

Eco81 07-31-2014 07:28 AM

Someone throw these and compare them to 11x kc pro gazelles?

Or can someone talk side by side pics of the new gstar gazelles next to an 11x

Brodysseus 07-31-2014 08:39 AM

Wish I wasn't so invested in Teebirds, those G* Gazelles look sweet.

Questatement 07-31-2014 10:23 AM

Got my vintage DX Gazelle in the sweetest spot atm (-1/+1.5). Never knew a disc could combine such distance with accuracy. I'm about to experiment with Gazelles via every premium plastic under the sun.

Goodbye pocketbook, hello my new love LOL

Eco81 07-31-2014 10:53 AM

Someone please throw one of these. I wonder if they might be a little flippy?

PhillyMatt 07-31-2014 11:36 AM

Got a 167 teal coming. I'll let you know.

E_Rock25 07-31-2014 11:38 AM

I don't think the G* will be as stable as an 11x... Some 11x's I have are pretty OS and with that dome on the one pictured above I think these might be kinda flippy. I could be wrong.

PhillyMatt 07-31-2014 11:44 AM

Depends on the weight. I always threw 160s 11x gazelles and they were not over stable at all.

Questatement 07-31-2014 11:58 AM

If the Teebird is any indication, it should fly pretty true the the numbers which were based on DX plastic new.

Thanks.

Turning Point 07-31-2014 12:47 PM

These GStar Gazelles sure are intriguing. Making me want to get a few. But I keep telling myself that they will probably do a regular production run that I can pick up locally and check out. Also, interested in seeing what people like more, the lighter or the heavier ones or if they fly pretty close to the same.

Questatement 07-31-2014 01:24 PM

Ordered one.

Should I feel guilty that I can pick up singles with no shipping fee since the factory is only 5 min from where I work?

Nah... :-)~~~~

You should feel lucky, considering it costs 6 bucks to ship to Michigan. It used to be more. That's why I almost never use the factory store except for things like this.

TheBMeistor 07-31-2014 10:42 PM

Well my small sample of one max weight got thrown a few times next to my new max weight pro.

Pics are back a page.

Pro (which I assume to be very DX like) was very straight and didn't fade too much, or fight out of any very well.

G* was straight with more fade. Also fought out of an anny that the Pro didn't want to. From the limited number of throws I had it also seemed more glidey than the Pro. Furthest throw was with the G*, thrown with a touch of anny.

My experience with Gazelles is limited to dx and these two, so I can't say what else it throws like. My guess is it is similar to the glows more so than the 11x from what I have heard of them.

smarkquart 07-31-2014 11:07 PM

Finally got out and threw my Gstar 175 against my go-to Star 175g. The GStar has a touch of flip and or turn, but never over. It would either flip flat or if thrown flat would have the mildest of turns. I would compare it to a seasoned Gazelle or a Gazelle thrown in a mild headwind. Still very controllable and a good replacement (since this hopefully will be in production run, unlike my Stars). I did not get enough throws on longer holes to see if it is longer, but it gave me the impression that it could be based upon the strength that I needed for 300 foot holes.

For the record, I usually throw Gazelles for everything straight from 290-350. I can stretch them out longer, but usually only if elevation is in play. I prefer Star but in the winter I am willing to switch over to DX. I find that it is much easier to flip DXs, especially with winter footing which can reintroduce OAT into my throws. That is why I am excited by GStar; I cannot throw regular Star in the winter, but this past snowy season I had no issues with GStar.

Eco81 08-01-2014 08:44 AM

To smark and theBM.... What colors and weights did you get and now much dome did they have?

Brodysseus 08-01-2014 08:53 AM

****it smark, I really don't want to drop any more money on discs right now but your review makes it sound like this is the premium plastic Gazelle I've always wanted.

I purchased two Chartreuse, which was more lime green than anything, and one orange, all 175g. Previously I had been using four 175g orange Stars, trying to cycle them so no one had any more seasoning than any others. The one I tested yesterday was the Chartreuse.

I have/had been trying to do the whole Trilogy Team thing, just to see if I could, and I have to say that despite being able to find suitable replacements for everything else, I could not replace the Gazelle. It has true perfect stability during its high speed, allowing me to reach back and trust that I can hit whatever line I put it on without worrying of flipping or turning. I am actually surprised that I have no aces, regular or cubby, with any of my Gazelles. I have had some incredible drives during high pressure tournaments though.

Due to familiarity I still like the Star over the GStar, but only because of that touch of turn or flip that I saw. Yet it was so subtle that it truly did not alter what I was trying to do with the throw. I do not think it would have negatively affected me in all but the tightest of wooded fairways.

As of now I would have no problems putting these in the bag, pulling out the Stars, but I think I am going to reserve final judgement until I can really stretch them out. Some of my best throws, the ones that I depend on the Gazelle the most, are the semi-tight fairways that are 340-370 and I want to run it.

Think this fairway at Kaposia. I ran the basket at both the Minnesota Majestic and Am Worlds with the Star Gazelle. (reference, that is not me teeing off; I do not have any pictures of me throwing to back-up my story)

Showing off another one, as well as showing some comparisons to the new g* Gazelles.

This old circle stamp Gazelle is more useful than it is pretty, I suppose. I use it for all my hyzer flip needs. Nice, beat in, buttery DX plastic.

What do you guys think of these comparisons? The DX is an Ontario. It's beat, but the g* seems to stand taller and have more dome.

Thanks for all the info. I've got less of an arm than you, so that subtle little bit of turn sounds good. That's why I've always like slightly used DX Gazelles and Teebirds. They have just the right HSS to flip up from a slight hyzer and lock into a dead straight flight for me, but can still handle some headwind with more hyzer.

I'm still on the fence since I just stocked up on premium plastic Teebirds to go with all my DX, but you definitely have me more intrigued about this disc.
