For those of you throwing the gazelle as a main fairway driver,
do you use a separate mold for the stable/understable slot in your bag,
or do you use a beat dx gazelle/beat kc pro/ beat champ glo?
Do the beat dx's work well as late turnover discs with minimal fade?

Rockiesfan4ever 07-15-2012 02:47 PM

I love throwing my Gazelle for those tight wooded shots :)

Eco81 07-15-2012 02:49 PM

i use my gazelle as my main driver on a lot of holes bc i can control it. and would consider it to be a stable disc and use a river as my under stable driver. i also carry a 166G champ glo gazelle that is beat in and will turn over slowly if i need it to. the 10z gazelle have a little more dome to them and will be easier to flip

KeepItFreshBrah 07-15-2012 03:06 PM

Great Thanks Guys,
Have you tried either the pro or star gazelle from the factory store?
If so, how do they compare in flight? How is the plastic feel?

Rockiesfan4ever 07-15-2012 03:13 PM

No the only Gazelle I've thrown is a DX

Eco81 07-15-2012 08:00 PM

I want to know wh I can't get 11x gazelles in heavier weights? I have a bunch ranging from 148-166 and then only 2 for 169-174. Where are the heavy gazelles. Sell me some

Okie-J 07-15-2012 08:25 PM

DX Gazelle = Great Fairway Hyzer Disc.

sparkyx 07-15-2012 11:34 PM

My 176g gazelle is probably my favorite flying fairway minus it's lack of glide due to the weight. Boy is it overstable lol

Eco81 07-17-2012 09:45 PM

I cante believe I cant gets my hands on heavy 11x gazelles. They are crazy requests for CE plastic and rocs where they have only made like 100 discs or less and people get them and I can't get 11z gazelles

PhillyMatt 07-17-2012 09:46 PM

thats cuz once you get an 11x.. you don't give it up

i will post a pic of my circle stamp collection tomorrow.

Eco81 07-17-2012 09:51 PM

Yeah but that cold be said for CE plastic and 1st runs and anything that is OOP

blammo 07-17-2012 11:32 PM

Disc Golf Values has heavy champ glows at decent prices.

jenb 07-17-2012 11:37 PM

I started a thread long ago called "mmmmmmm gazelles."

They are quite yummy, but in the end, for mold minimalization and sanity reasons, I've gone with the teebird only. I just got tired of standing on the tee agonizing over whether to throw the teebird or gazelle, and the gazelle was less reliable for varying wind, etc.

StarFirebird 07-17-2012 11:38 PM

A while back I lucked up and found a 11x KC Pro Gazelle and thought, what the heck,I'll give it a try.

Best disc in the woods for me for drives around the 280ft to 325ft mark. It's good and stable and just enough glide so it does great for the low ceiling shots.

I throw mine all the time.

I have a Ching 175g gazelle that I bought off of the lake rake guy for two bucks. I bought it because the stamp on it was very unique and didn't know it was even a gazelle. It was love at first throw.

I snagged 166g Glow Champ Gazelles there, too.

Wonderful, wonderful discs.

chillis 07-18-2012 02:47 PM

that is f'in awesome!! do want!!

LeftyLarryinFL80 07-18-2012 02:56 PM

Thanks I thought so too. He had it in his "junk disc" bag, I was like..yeah this is ok, I guess I'll take that, lol. It doesn't seem like normal dx plastic, I've nailed trees with it and it barely shows any signs of wear.

Eco81 07-18-2012 08:24 PM

nice disc....i want heavy 11x gazelles....where are they?

Eco81 07-21-2012 07:20 PM

@phillymatt where is the pic of the circle stamp collection?

b-mart 07-23-2012 07:43 PM

Any of you 'Zelle lovers thrown them in Star? I just came across two Factory Second Star Gazelles at a PIAS and leapt at the chance. I didn't think they existed, but the one I picked up matches up with my DX one. Googling it shows me that they did mold them in Star "by popular demand", yet I'd never known of their existence. Guess the marketing gurus at Innova are too busy trying to sell "Star Lite" Roadrunners and Blizzard everythings to push a slower fairway driver that isn't called a "Teebird".

I haven't had the chance to throw my new Star one yet. My business closes in an hour and a half and I can't use the property until that happens. Super stoked about it though.

I'm looking to get back into throwing my Gazelle (assuming my Cyclones don't have something to say about that). How much more overstable are the various KC pro editions than a DX version of the same weight (say 170s)?

Eco81 07-25-2012 12:12 PM

They are going to a little more over stable then the dx. The major difference the kc plastic is going to take longer to break in

My Glow Champ Gazelles are like shorter TeeBirds, for me at least.

The one in my bag is often my only driver for night rounds, and my goto driver when I can't seem to throw anything else correctly.

Love the Gaz.

I'm pretty sure Factory Store sells regular Star Gazelles. I called them up and they said they are pretty domey. So I didn't get one.

Anybody know if there are any pink KC Pro's? My buddy backswing aplenty is looking for one.

Dr.Wu 07-25-2012 12:30 PM

Two 11x KCs are in my bag right now and although theyre lighter (150 & 160g) they have replaced most of my distance drivers in recent rounds, despite fairly windy conditions.

steve a 07-25-2012 01:08 PM

Has anyone played a round with just a gazelle and your favorite putter. Its been awhile since I have done this but I used to surprise my self with great scores. Interested to hear if others have tried it.

I have played lots of night rounds with just my Champ Gazelle and my Ion.

My scores are usually about 4 strokes over normal full bag day rounds.

Eco81 07-29-2012 08:24 PM

why wont someone sell me heavy 11x gazelles

wraithrower 07-29-2012 09:39 PM
