This happened to at least 4 baskets at Pier Park in Portland last night. No one was caught, but IMHO this just has the smell of someone that got pissed and over-reacted after watching groups of chuckers ignoring social distancing protocol. The timing is just too suspect to be something else, that course has been there for years.

Police are on alert for a suspect with a really impressive set of bolt cutters.
Yeah that sucks. Surprised the basket were not pulled already. |

I gotta agree with the underlined. :\ |
That is messed up. Hope these pics don't give anyone ideas.
Find the culprit and use the bolt cutters on his fingers. |

And yeah I doubt if discers dropped those baskets... PIA |

As does the WHOs continued insistence that it’s not airborne and masks aren’t necessary for the general public. |

Been thinking about setting up temp courses during the current climate of social distancing, and while baskets are cool, object golf may be a better fit. A wood post would seem to eliminate most of the fear of targets that players might have - as they say the virus lives on plastic or metal up to 72 hours. Plus, without the "basket" and chains, discs will simply hit and drop to the ground, no place to pool germs.
Could be a great way to create new players, create potential new customers, and create some excellent PR for the sport. "The Return of Object Golf" we can shift to object golf for the time being and hopefully that would transition to invigorated target golf when the crisis ends. |
