So what is the evolution of the P3? The glow I just got is all kinds of different from the D-lines I have.
https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...f1&oe=54B31E5F Also, it looks like this glow P3 has a mini bead... if thats flashing then it is the most flashing I have ever seen, its like 1/2 millimeters high and 1 millimeter wide. Taking that off would be some serious work... https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...bba1007aa47e21 Pls Ryan tell me did they change the mold or what is up. |
I really like how DM re purposed existing innova toolings/bottoms/tops into new molds, Hell you got the best god**** disc ever made from the firebird bottom (PD). Is this still part of how you design molds? Will there be new molds made the same way (i.e DD2/PD2/PD/FD) out of pieces of existing discs?
ALSO. Was your partnership with innova meant purely as a steppingstone to get into the DG market, one that you would eventually distance from as you grew, or intended to be something long lasting? |
Wow, that P3 looks like an entirely different disc

The glow P3 is not a bad disc, I just have trouble throwing slower discs that have that much dome, it does not sit comfortably in my hand. I have a bunch of D-P3s that have accumulated for some reason although I dont bag them. Its a nice disc, very midrangey.
That is a buttload of flashing, are they all like this? If I were to try and remove it with a boxcutter it would be a lot of work, also trying to get it uniform across the rim. Flat Premium Jokeri reigns the day in my bag, closely followed by glow MD3. ;) |
Just wanted to say that the P3 is one of the most under rated disc's in the game right now. Overstable to fight the wind and ranges quite well for a "putter" mold. The glow version is fantastic.
Also, for those that don't like the dome on the P3, I highly recommend some hot water. I flattened a C-Line just to see how it would fly and it's a thing of beauty. What can we expect from DM in 2015? |
Yeah theres that, however you can then forget about throwing it in sanctioned events...
I think there is room in distance drivers. 11, 5, -1, 3 or something like that would be nice for some added distance. PD1,5? :) |
G line gremlin and p3 would be glorious if they molded up flat.

Flat enough for ya? :D I did the hot water trick (actually the top became a little puddled because I think there was some low pressure between the rim and the weight I had on top) and also took it to sauna with me. Just for laughs. Will not be using this in regulation play obviously. For fooling around glow rounds mebbe. Interestingly enough, it became less stable, well not flippy but the fade was eliminated almost completely. It is more like a touchey & glidey midrange now. ;) |
I've had a couple of issues with the top puddling a little bit on some of the disc's I've tried to flatten. Every time those are the one's that lose almost all of their stability. The most susceptible mold for this is roc's in my opinion.
The most recent C-P3 that I've purchased is just about that flat. Where yours is puddled, mine is maybe the equivalent to that on dome. It is pretty flat though compared to others I've owned. |
Yeah I think this is enough experimenting for me. In the future if I get a domey mold I dont like, I will just sell or trade it off. Maybe Ill customize this more, with some sharpies or whatever. I dont want to go into dyeing for realz because I know I would go full retard if I give it a chance :D

Can we please have McPro P2?

Never had a p-line that felt like McPro plastic.
|
I'd have to agree with Tylerc, the P-Line P2 seems to be extremely close to a McPro feel.

I should have used some sort of visual enhancement when posting "extremely close" in my previous post. ;)
|
I've had five and they were all extremely slick compared to my mcpro aviars. Maybe I just bought the wrong ones? Are there certain ones with more grip?

Mcpro = KC

The "proto" D-line stamped Ps feel great. I also have some older regular stamped ones that feel chalky. But if you give the slick ones a little use, wear and dirt should solve that problem.

I've had yellow, black and white. All were slicker than my McPros (pink) or my KC Aviars for that matter (yellow). I guess I am just crazy. Of course you probably have to be a little crazy to play this game as much as we all do, or would like to haha.
|
Yeah I do bag various DDs too, but they need to be well beaten in to achieve more distance vs PD. Something with just a little turn out of the box and speed 11-12 would be the perfect.
|
Any plans for black friday or holiday promotions? Could we possibly get a teaser :D

I would love to see an overstable disc that fits between my md3 and pd. basically replace my whippet. I'm surprised there are no real whippet competitors out there. 1.6 rim thickness, 1.2 rim depth. like a mini pd :D
|
Isn't FD2 just that?

Now, to my question. Does Discmania have any plans to produce a mold or two in the "3" fashion (i.e. Roc->Roc3, Shark->Shark3)? |

DM already had the md1 and md2 before the "3" molds were released if I'm not mistaken. I though it just fit their established system.
|
I would love to see discmania produce:
Slim/shallow, FLAT, overstable, firm/tacky putter. (Rhyno/Zone/Piggy) Slim/shallow, lots of HSS/with little LSS midrange (worn rocs, onterio cobras, R3) Flat, pure beef, overtly overstable utility disc (Gator,Whippet,Drone) granted I absolutely love my stash of firm pro rhynos, flat top gators, and onterio cobras, these are the slots yet to be contested by DM. ps. I think that flat md2s may be comparable to KCobras but I've never had luck finding one in person, anybody find them similar? |
How can we make G-line DD's a thing or move up the release list? :) The glide on that disc would be unreal!
|
Disagree. G-line PD2s, dammit.
|
did they ever announce who the new sponsored team member was?

I'm by no means an expert on the midranges though, I'm just learning them myself. |
ever going to make the shipping prices cheaper out of the store? thats the only thing holding me back from ordering a handful of discs from the discmania store.
