I'm looking forward to getting to Diamond, but I'm guessing it will take another two years. I've already hit more than half the top 10, so I'm going to have to get their by large volume of lesser known courses.

Now that I'm back in New England, there are a lot of mouth water road trips I need to take. Can't wait to get up to Maine. And playing every course in Massachusetts is not out of reach.

Living in Vegas was not at all conducive to road trips...

i guess this means i have to review one less course than BroD then sit back and wait.

Pretty much anywhere east of the Mississippi is easier for course bagging and racking up the reviews than out west. The MI/IN/IL/WI area, the NC/SC/GA area and New England have amazing course density compared to what you're used to in Vegas.

seriously! it blows my mind to see some of you guys with dozens of reviews with double digits thumbs up.

definitely jealous of all the east coast folk, you guys have it easy.

i've been making a push to hit 200 courses this summer. getting in lots of reviews lately cuz of that and i'm getting closer to diamond, 300 more!

One of the things that always gets me is reviewing all kinds of courses, and getting 0 or 1 thumbs up for some of them. I just thumbed up Mashnut's review of 'Hammer of Thor' because I loved the course name. Weird course for a school, and the review nailed it. Made me think of a couple of school courses, one of which must have been designed by a macho gym teacher (Bellbrook Middle School near Dayton), and the other by somebody who really grasped the fact that he was trying to introduce young kids to the sport (Springfield Elementary School in SC). But all of these courses should have a few folks checking in here to see how they are being received. :\

Anyway, my point is, if you write one of the only reviews there is on a course, you would think that somebody might appreciate it as being 'helpful'.

I've got a really odd one of those kinds of reviews. My aunt had this summer cottage on a lake in Michigan. She passed away a few years ago and I went up to help the family clean out her house. While I was there I searched for disc golf courses and it said there was one there at the lake, which was awesome for a second until I realized it was an object course. I went over there and it was just posts around an open rec area; you were just supposed to toss a Frisbee from one post to the next. It was a joke even considering it a disc golf course. Anyway, it was listed so I reviewed it. I've got 14 thumbs up on that stupid course. Usually bad courses attract no attention, so I have no clue how I got so many votes on a field with posts. Sometimes this site is just weird.

I have one like that, I accidentally found a 3 hole practice course a few miles from Holler in the Hills, I listed it and reviewed it with a 0 star rating. That was before you couldn't vote on practice course reviews, I got 10 thumbs up. Other reviews of popular courses get 1.

I would have gone to that course regardless of the review . . . but I no longer course bag practice areas unless it is the only thing in the area. I was going through a bit of a phase back then!

Quality of the review is just one of many factors that affect how many thumbs a review gets. Popularity of the course, popularity of the reviewer and how long the review stays on the home page are factors as well. So is how long after your review does someone else review that course and how fast your review gets relegated to the 2nd page, etc... the list of variables is almost endless.

Bottom line is all you can really do is write the review you want to write... that's something you can control. Most of the rest is out of your hands. :|

I wouldn't have made diamond so fast if it were not for two things:

1) NC is adding courses at a good clip and I'm good at being one of if not the first to review them.

2) A steady diet of elfballs keeping my awesomesauce levels near max capacity.
