Anderson SC NEW 9 Hole Course

We have added a 9 hole course at Sadlers Creek State Park here in Anderson SC.

This is a beautiful, wooded, lakeside, shaded course in a fun, family oriented park. Course features nearby bathrooms, playgrounds, picnic shelters and swimming.

This course is brand new and still in need of tee markers and signage.
[1/16/2020 Temporary tee markers are now up - baskets are labeled with #]

We could really use some help with it!

No one in the Friends Group that paid for it knows anything about the sport.

We are looking for a few volunteers to help us put on the finishing touches and act as course monitors. Also looking for some folks to host Disc Golf 101 lessons!

Our hope is to host a tournament in early 2021.

Course is located near the Park Office - follow the signs.
Parking fees do apply for all vehicles entering the park.

Not in my area, but it's always cool to hear about new courses going up. About the intent to host a tournament - do you have plans to expand to 18 holes with your course eventually?

Good luck, and happy discing!

Since the park is quite small our plan is to have 9 permanent and then 9 professional portable holes for tournaments. First round(s) on the fixed course. Second round(s) on a course that is new to everyone!

Constructive criticism here. If you're playing rounds on a 9-hole course, you're likely yourself to a 36 player field (9 foursomes). You're also limiting the number of players who would want to play a 9-hole tournament. Very few players are going to travel for an 18-hole tournament.

What would be better is if you use the 9 portable baskets elsewhere in the park to create an 18-hole layout. This expands your field to 72 (18 foursomes), gives players two full 18-hole rounds, and offers players the chance to play nine layouts that are exclusive to this tournament. Plenty of courses/layouts are set up one time a year for one specific tournament and if it's done well, it's something players put on their calendar as a can't miss event.
