I’ve seen that video. It doesn’t say anything about it being a different mold. And the flight looks pretty similar- he’s throwing nearly 400’ with it and it’s straight with a reliable fade.

So, does anyone know what actual differences there may or may not be?

Edit to add: I’ve also looked on the website. Discmania says it’s different, but just says it’s flatter and more reliable with better glide. Pretty vague. I was hoping someone could chime in who maybe knows if it’s still the Teebird wing with the Starfire top or whatever the last retool was. And maybe let us know specifically how the stability compares.

Jenga54 03-25-2019 08:46 PM

Well I have 60 of them in my basement, what do you wanna know? 😉

Old rim was teebird wing, this wing is just almost straight, it's ever slightly convex.

Almost flat topped. PLH almost identical to the proto SLines. Both measure 18mm rim width

Jenga54 03-25-2019 08:56 PM

Also it's different than the original FD2 which almost looks like a leopard bottom wing if I had to guess.

The RR-FD2 seems like neither wing or top from those previous fd2

Grippenripp 03-25-2019 09:02 PM

No way. My guy sent me a profile pic and wing pic, NOT a TB at all. I am excited for this disc, once I saw it up close it knocked out the excitement for the Instinct.

Nice! Any chance you could post a side-by-side? How’s the stability compare to the proto S-Line? The one I had last summer was an incredible forehand disc for me- for about a week. Then it just started getting straighter and longer, and didn’t really suite what I had been using it for in the first place. I was really hoping we’d get a run of those that was at least as overstable, and in a more durable(Champ) plastic. This new one ticks my second box. Any chance it ticks the first?

Agreed, said the proto S used the Teebird stripper.

I'm personally going to be waiting for the Instinct, it's going to glide a lot more, sounds like less HS turn too sounds like!

I throw the FD. Glide is covered, as for the FD2 I feel like some field work with it and its gonna be a more versatile TB a little angle seems to have had it flying pretty stable.

I felt one up and they are definitely nicely flat.

Thanks for the pic! Definitely not a Teebird wing. Prob just gonna have to get one to see how it flies.

Looks like a TL?

racer93 03-26-2019 05:26 AM

Someone please tell me the difference between this and the PD. I'm having a really hard time differentiating between them, based off the above video...

The PD is faster and more OS. More of a Thunderbird option.

Oh, right on. I've never even thrown a PD but I have heard the Darks are far less stable than the others

It's certainly on the radar and has been for a little while now. I don't think it will happen this year. We'll see if we can pull some strings, though.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instinct vs. FD2 discussion:

We believe each of these will find their way into your bag. Although at first glance and judging by specs and flight characteristics they may seem relatively similar. If I were to sum it up in one response, the Instinct has more glide and high speed turn than the FD2 does. Instinct is grippier, has more dome, and will ultimately fly further than these FD2s will. The FD2, however, is flatter, has less glide, and will behave like a very very close relative to the 2nd run FD. Naturally we're always hesitant to directly compare the two but we know you'll feel the same way.

You'll choose the FD2 when you need to be sure the disc will come back to the basket perched on the edge of the water while still flying straight and true. You'll reach for the Instinct when you have a little more room to play with and can stretch your line a bit further. Both should be equally great for forehand shots as well. Low speed stability should be roughly the same on both discs which is the main similarity.

ponder 03-26-2019 04:46 PM

I asked this a couple pages back but it quickly got overshadowed by a different discussions. Is the FD2 retool v3 going to be a production run or only for the Leo tour series?

I was wondering this same thing. Especially with the FD2v3 and the Instinct seeming to be so similar on paper...

Idk if it needs to be stiff p line like those md4s but I wouldn't mind a few driver pro p3xs

Oh yes absolutely. We don't have a current timeline for these but you can expect them to come out in a stock run at some point. These are seriously amazing. In fact, every single disc we are going to come out with this year, both Originals and Evolution, are going to be a huge deal. And that's not just for marketing purposes. :)

Driver pro may not be as much of a possibility as P-Line but we'll pencil you in ;)

That's my dude haha but an actual question is the "stiff" p line a new normal or just on certain molds

Must be a shortage of the stuff

thursdaddy 03-28-2019 02:36 AM

Really excited for all the new stuff!

These Royal Rage stamps are awesome, they remind me of the old style stock stamps... The Hysteria and Fiend are by far the coolest stock stamps on any disc out there. Bring em back!!

I had to cave and take my stack of teebirds out last last year because I could go to my local shop and pick up 3 fd2s and not 1 would be the same

Luckily this is a new mold completely from last year's proto/konopiste

Grippenripp 03-30-2019 10:21 PM

New FD2 is straight hot fire magic money. Big ballin to the max. Easily my new favorite fairway.

Soo fingers crossed 🤞
Complete Active Line - says April/May. Thought it said March??
April: Instinct!!!!!!!!! (OS version of FD2(teebird?))
May: Method!!! (OS MD3, beaded (between md3/4))
June: Link!!!! (Please 4/2/0/4 maybe??)
July: Enigma (what is the Gap? Replace DD? Or like a shryke DD2 replacement?)
SLine FD2 (is it May/June yet!?!?!?!)
DD3 April. Likely Swirly SLine for Tour Fundraiser to rake in the dollars for Eagle. Is it going to be the same stamp?? I hope not so the first run has a unique stamp.
Then the SLine release DD3 once the swirly sells out.

So basically by July I'll have everything I need except Lux Instinct and Lux Link if it's an OS beast of a flat fast un-beaded putter

Yes infinite had different numbers, that's what I'm saying

B The V 04-01-2019 08:27 AM

Infinite's numbers do change as people post reviews and give their own "professional" opinions of what the flight numbers are. That is why you see decimals in the flight numbers.

Oh yeah, that's right you can enter your own numbers on internet I forgot if I was going to give my FD2s flight numbers they would be 7/4/-1/2 but like a hard too I can't quite call it at 3 cuz that's the same fate as my fd3s
