Central Scrutinizer 11-14-2013 09:06 PM

Hey all, hailing all frequencies here...I'll paste what I did in the thread I started:

Hi all!

My good buddy Michael Wildner of Traverse City, MI is only 48 votes shy of qualifying for a grant that Chase is giving to small businesses. It's for $250,000, and with that, he will install more courses in our state.

The deadline is midnight, in three hours. Let's light this up! His small business is called "Yeti Tech," and that button pops right up with the page. It's in conjunction with Facebook, so I think you might have to do this through your FB account?

https://www.missionmainstreetgrants..../detail/104758

He's the guy behind the new "Wild Haven" course just south of Manton, near where 131 stops being a freeway. You can see the baskets on the freeway!

Central Scrutinizer 11-14-2013 09:10 PM

Hmmm, the link won't work here, but did in the original thread. That thread can be found here:

Central Scrutinizer 11-14-2013 10:10 PM

Thread is ongoing here, too:

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums...t=98073&page=2

43 votes needed in the next 1 hour, 50 minutes...

Central Scrutinizer 11-14-2013 10:34 PM

Correction...I just found out the deadline is through tomorrow not by tomorrow. We've got a little over 24 hours to MAKE THIS HAPPEN! :-)

208 votes tallied, 42 needed by the end of Friday night, Nov. 15...

Central Scrutinizer 11-14-2013 11:01 PM

213...

Why haven't you gotten up there? No one there?

Earic02 11-15-2013 11:04 AM

247 now!

I got this easily.. watch this..

Central Scrutinizer 11-15-2013 12:31 PM

Thank you, Earic02 and everyone else who participated...He got his votes! Now he's onto the next phase of the project, which I believe is his proposal making it to the suits' desks.

If you haven't made it to Wild Haven near Manton yet, it's his course. He'd be delighted to have you there...It's a private course (and listed on this website), but you can just show up and slip a few bucks in the pay tube.

Earic02 11-15-2013 02:54 PM

no problem!!

So, the gig is, he is looking for a quarter million dollar grant for Chase to install P2P private courses? Up north only or is he looking at a larger region?

After going back a couple of months of posts, there did not appear to be any mention of a possible new course going in northeast GR, Northview district I believe, in some sort of sports complex. Anyone else hear about this?

Cool. Thanks for the info. Maybe it will be Macatawa-ish?
Regardless, it should be better than my closest DG choice now - Riverside. My next option is Johnson - love the course, hate the absence of baskets. Jaycee is okay, but... I played it more this past year than I had in the past. Kinda bored with it, I guess.
Cascade is a great course, but really needs a re-design of a handful of holes (1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 18) intersecting with pedestrian/vehicle traffic. And cement teepads would be nice, too.
All that to say, it will be a welcome addition to the GR DG scene.

my worry is that it will end up being another riverside. it's basically right on the river and I'm sure it's prone to flooding.. and I guarantee there will be geese :\

Ugh! Geese. Hate 'em. They've managed to "fowl" up Riverside, Lamar & Heritage.

sgamerp 11-20-2013 10:08 PM

You should play fallasburg. A bit out the way but worth it.

It is a little bit of a drive. I've played the Sunday Fall/Winter league a few time this year.
I just want something that isn't over 1/2 an hours drive, ya know? It's five minutes to Riverside, 20 to Jaycee or Cascade, 30 to Brewer. I'd rather spend money on something other than gas. Like new discs.:D Or even a fee to play DG on a well-kept course.

sgamerp 11-20-2013 10:52 PM

I get yah. I just enjoy it the most of what grand rapids has to offer.

ACE Ventura 11-20-2013 11:43 PM

I'm going to have to make sure to meet up with some of you folks around the GR area to play some rounds, maybe I've even seen you on the course already...

I tend to stay away from the Goose Poop Courses as much as possible or the posts at Johnson.. but I play every where. Fallasburg may be a little longer drive but the course makes it worth it. Same with Macatawa IMO. Hell, even going to Saug-nasty to play Shore Hills is great.

Anyway my point is, hopefully that dude will be working on using that quarter mill to put in another nice course around GR! That would be sweeeeeet!

The Shide 11-21-2013 12:05 PM

/\ /\
Yes please!! More "GR" courses (technically there is only one IN Grand Rapids - Riverside).

I have a brown Simian bag, and I am chubby. I normally play fallasburg and drink beer. If you've seen me I have most likely let you pass.

Mt. McSauba in Charlevoix open for winter play?

Anyone know if Mt. McSauba in Charlevoix is open for winter play. Course review dosn't state one way or another but I do know that its a ski hill or was. I will be in the area first week of December.

Thanks,
TOny

If you're inquiring about that course, you really do wanna play 'em all. I don't know anyone who plays it, other than to say they've played it. I didn't even know it was "closed due to construction." :\
No matter who you talk to about courses in this area, it never comes up in a conversation.

apdrvya 12-11-2013 03:55 PM

I'm course bagging (of course) and it should be an easy pick up with my ann arbor/ypsi trip

ejvogie 12-11-2013 04:27 PM

When are you bagging? I might be able to meet you somewhere

Surprised you haven't hit up Rolling Hills yet, definitely one of my favorite courses in Michigan. Can knock out Water Works (9 holes, 3 sets of natural tees) while your at it, both are not far off of exit 183 (I-94). I am looking forward to your Rolling Hills review.

I got nothing on Brighton HS to add, never played there.

apdrvya 12-11-2013 07:54 PM

rolling hills is on my list...
just haven't got there yet. I believe it's in my ann arbor ypsi trip...

yep, click here

Future_Primitive 12-12-2013 10:32 AM

I thought it would be, I took a quick look at your played courses and noticed it was missing. Really fun course with some elevation changes and tight lines through trees. That was course #40 for me.

Played Water Works last night for Glow league night. Fun course, but natural pads and no signs might be frustrating if there is snow on the ground. 1, 7, 8 and 9 are out in the open while 2-6 are in the woods.

BRATS is a fun Private course, hoping to hold a Glow round there next Wed if we get permission. Another one with natural pads and no signs. It is has 9 baskets, play it forward for the front 9 and backwards for the back 9.

Haven't hit the other 4 on your list yet myself. Need to cut back on my league play and get back to exploring again. Stuck on 44 courses at the moment. Have fun on the trip!
