Are discs BPA free?

I know we are not usually drinking from our discs, or sucking on them...

Are disc golf discs manufactured using BPA?

I was just reading an article about the adverse effects of BPA, and how prevalent it is in the manufacture of plastics.

I suppose there are other things to be worried about, but now my curiosity has been piqued.

I would be surprised to find out that the plastic blends used in disc manufacturing are BPA free.

What exactly does BPA do for plastic? Or what is its designated purpose?

I of course turned to google to answer your question and it proved to be more of a challenge then I thought. I was aware that BPA was used in plastic (which was confirmed by all google hits) but its purpose there I was not able to locate at this juncture (mainly because ADHD kicked in). Granted I'm not too worried about BPA in a disc (unless I lose it in water and it leeds to an outbreak of man-eatinga frogs, carp, crawdads, etc.) but I would now like to know for curiosity sake.

I hear CE plastic was discontinued because its secret ingredient was a mix of cadmium and lead oxides. :poopcorn:
