You must be one of those sadomasochists. |
Started a post to find an alternative to my GM gremlin as my stash is running low.
Receiving many suggestions, but the obvious question and to save me the trouble of replacing a staple in my bag for more than 20 years.... What are chances of producing the GM again? (Hopefully soon, I'm 60 and skills are diminishing fast.) |
I’d say slim to none. You can find them reasonably priced for an out of production disc ($20-35) on some of the Facebook groups if you ask around. Ill take a look and see if I have one kicking around.

Hard to say. I did do their survey. Hopefully they take a hint and maybe focus a little more on stock runs of discs. |
I ordered 2 MPIIs online and they arrived today.
I know it's early in the release (all of 1 day) but has anyone had a chance to throw a MPII? It's full winter here in Calgary (-15C today and a bunch of snow (although it will be +2 to +4 over the next few days) so I won't be throwing these until spring (I'm in winter bag mode which is GStar and K1 Soft stuff) but I'm curious about the flight. More HSS than a regular Origin? Usually the Meta type plastic results in a "more stable" version of a mold. |

I can second the fact that the MP2 is insanely glidey. First few throws with them went 30-40' further than I was intending. Throwing them like a putter is a trip. Powered up they have gentle turn. Easy hyzer flip. Holds a turn forever. They are quite finnicky in medium to high wind though. Where my mindbender would turn slightly more the MP2 would turn and burn. I never really clicked with the origin but these MP2 are going to have me messing with them all winter long.

Does anybody switch putters or putter plastic when winter rolls in? Been putting with standard flex 2 P2s and was thinking about trying the flex 1s for extra grip in the cold. Or maybe even rainmakers?

Yeah. Extra soft Exo Links freeze up to the perfect feeling putter in sub zero conditions.

On a related note, I think the flex 2 P1s have better grip than the plastic that was used on the first stock run of the Swedish P2. Similarly, the more recent Swedish P2s appear to have more grip as well, so you might try a P1 or a new P2 for some added grip with the same level of stiffness. |

Not contradicting you, just another data point. |
What are you hoping comes out of the mystery boxes? I'd love to see a premium logic and the new distance driver to be a bit more slower arm friendly than the dd3.

Also, HD profile pics of every disc on the website! |
profile pics would be great.

I’ve heard they’re working on a CD2, but I’d like to see something like the PD/CD/TD line-up in S-Line but especially in something like LUX. That is a softer plastic line with a stepped-down stability like the old PD/CD/TD grouping.

While I love the feel of LUX plastic, I don’t like the depth of the Link. |
So, looks like the new DD1 is pretty much an orbit Grace. Also, their video was difficult to watch. I like B movies but this thing was cheesy.
|
Excited for the new disc, but underwhelmed by the delivery.
|
I think the DD1 could be interesting. I already have a bunch of Wraiths in boxes that I don’t throw. I could be tempted to try one of these in a stock run, but not enough to spend the money on a mystery box and discs I don’t need or probably want.
|
That overproduction is the sign you made too much money Discmania, haha… I’ll bite on the DD1 in spite of your efforts. You know, since it’s Christmas and it’ll go under the budget radar…

Given that Echo DD3s or any other noticeably more understable versions of the DD3 sell like hotcakes, the new DD1 should be an instant bestseller.

Supreme / royal grand / special blend s-line is the same. |

Begin speculating with little evidence: Discmania said they bought their own machines (presumably true), and they bought the exact same machines as L64. It seems to me like it took them a while to get new C-line Originals pumping out? It’s possible they were set on entirely different plastics … until the practicality of knowing L64 already worked out some nice blends was too tempting? Grand being among the best feeling new plastics… business sense took over? Alternate theory: Jussi demanded completely new plastics. With him out, Discmania (or parent company, wink), caved to known blends? |
Wait until it’s announced that discmania is owned by Lat64. It’s going to happen eventually. Discmania has never “made” a disc.
|
The vast majority of disc golf companies have not made a disc. There's really only like 5-6 actual fabs, most of the companies are fabless. However, Discmania appears to have an actual disc factory that produces discs, unlike say Dynamic Discs or Millenium
