So..I think I got whiplash?
Yea I was doing something very wrong in my throw, maybe being too forceful, trying too hard and like hours after playing I got this intense pain in my neck. It was the most painful feeling I've ever felt (yet) it was like I had a thousand pounds of pressure in one spot of my neck. I felt like I was going to faint, my vision was going black and was having cold sweats at one point. Don't know if it was whiplash or maybe a form of it, it hurts like hell if I make a sudden wrong move. I first put an ice pack on it, took some acetaminophen, and then tried my best to go to sleep on heating pad. It is a little better today, I can still feel the tensity of the muscles though and gotta stay stiff to reduce pain.

So that's about it, I am looking for some tips if anyone else has done this to themselves from playing, or maybe I'm the first.. and I am too poor to go to doctor (which is why I play disc golf, jk) but for real.. halp! :wall:

I'd go see a chiropractor. I had some sharp pains in my back as a result of playing too much then sitting on my ass for days not keeping stretched. My chiropractor got it all aligned and the pain has subsided.

If the pain goes away, probably just pulled a muscle or something. your treatment seems to suggest it was simply a muscle pull.

You would have to be doing something incredibly wrong in your throw for this to happen. I personally have never heard of anything like this before.

Hmm chiropractor would be best option, but it probably is just pulled muscle. I did some googling http://www.livestrong.com/article/12...d-neck-muscle/ That's gotta be it, so I'll keep on my ice and heat treatment.. and hopefully I won't miss much work this week. I remember like almost facing backwards when I went to throw a couple times and then did a quick twist of my head as I guided the disc across my chest whilst looking down upon throw.. so like as decent as my throws were it caused some major damage.

At least you didn't get whiplash from a car accedent like me. I haven't been able to golf in more than 2 months now. :(

I just got out of the chiropractor, that's my recommendation.

I would ice it and then heat it with a heating pad. Try taking alieve or another over the counter medicine with naproxen in it. If it hurts for more then three days I would head to the chiropractor.

I would visit a real doctor before the chiro. I was having spasms that locked up my neck and traps and started off going to a chiro. That only offered relief of the symptoms. The doc informed me I had a pinched nerve and sent me to a physical therapist. After a few sessions with dry needling and some exercises I stopped having spasms at all.
