If one of the arguments for mixing cards is that the inexperienced players get a chance to watch and learn from experienced players, what kind of lessons are they learning if the experienced players...

I don't know how many times I've had a conversation with a casual player whose biggest reason for not trying out a tournament was "I'm not good enough, I don't want to get my butt kicked". My...

The problem then becomes where do those players play if most/all of their local sanctioned tournaments are C-tiers?

I'm not in favor of mixing cards and won't ever be doing it at any of my events,...

I'm not arguing that Pros should get paid out in Am divisions. I'm arguing that all players should be allowed to play where their skill (signified by rating) dictates they belong...pro/am status be...

Most registered pros who play amateur divisions are not cashing pros, or at least not regularly cashing pros. In fact, a lot of them aren't Open players at all. They're age protected players whose...

Guess I don't see the desirability of players not skilled enough to compete in a pro division being compelled or outright bribed to play there. If a local area doesn't have enough players to field a...

Or they did consider those divisions, and don't expect that the effects will be detrimental to the divisions. Or that whatever the effects, they are not undesirable.

They should be doing that anyway, but that's up to the TDs. I don't believe the PDGA can dictate that sort of thing, nor should they.

I honestly see no reason for any amateur to be paying more...

It's important to recognize that just because a practice is prevalent in one area, that doesn't mean it is prevalent everywhere. Around here, no one does electronic payouts. Certainly not in the...

Which is why amateurs should have to declare their intent to decline cash BEFORE the event starts. Or at the very least, before the awards ceremony begins. There's no reason for that to not come up...

Leaving it up to the TD puts them in the position of having to defend their decision (whatever it is) to people unwilling to hear the argument. This is definitely something better to have delineated...

It might be, but I'm not really the best to answer this. I don't think we should be looking for "easy" ways to encourage ams to play pro. I'm not that interested in encouraging ams to play pro at...

They're not taking from the payout. They're paying out a membership in lieu of cash. No one is losing out on value here.

Pros aren't going to be turning Am if they accept prizes, though. If you want a reward of value for placing well in a pro division, it is cash, period. Take it and turn pro or decline it to stay am....

TDs have ALWAYS been a collection agent for the PDGA. This is nothing new and not really much of an argument against the rule. It may be a bad rule, but the TD burden angle is not the way to make...

I don't think it does. At least not for a TD who is already well prepared.

Here's the thing...this passing cash down rather than paying out in merch is how it used to work. It's not new. Paying out in merch in lieu of cash added more work to the TD's plate. Going back to...

I'm aware of that. But there's been no mention of the trophy-only entry fee option at all. Not that it's necessarily been overlooked by the PDGA but as it isn't a change or clarification, it hasn't...

Seems impractical on the surface, unless it's a player pack you're assembling for the ams anyway. As for allowed or not, it's hard to say. There is the requirement that 85% (in C-tiers) or 100%...
