Yeah, that was weird. I decided to throw the Malta as hard as I could on a flat line. The disc turned over quite a bit and didn't come back. It surprised me. I expected way more late fade than I saw....

The Malta didn't seem any smaller diameter than the Buzzz OS. Other than having a bead, I couldn't really tell much difference between the two.

The Malta seems like a good mid, but it overlaps...

Katanas and Daedaluses give me fairly similar results. The Daedalus glides a little more and turns slightly easier than a Katana. The Katana generally fades harder though.

Both will deliver max...

At least practice with the fairway drivers. Just throwing putters and mids won't magically gain you distance. You don't have to use the fairway drivers on the course right now, but keep working with...

I think the fact that your Daedalus is flat is causing it to perform badly. The Daedaluses I've been throwing lately will do 400'+ even on an average rip. They're also very domey.

Not all...

The Daedalus will surprise you. Those things are so long when you hit them just right. I've had problems with the Daedalus before, but lately all the ones I've seen have been long bombers that can...

Buzzz OS vs. Malta

I decided to test a couple mids head to head on the course today. I had never thrown either one until today. For reference, Discraft lists the Buzzz OS at 5, 4, 0, 3. The Malta is listed at 5, 4, 1,...

I get what you're saying. I'm pushing down fairly hard with my thumb, enough to indent the flight plate. Doing that doesn't seem to affect how I release the disc. I've found that with a tighter grip...

Where in Monterey is this? The only course I've ever seen around there was over by Del Monte shopping center, down around a creek.

I got poison oak pretty bad there once.:gross:

The "neutral/workhorse" mid is probably one of the more important slots in anyone's bag. It's a disc that gets thrown a lot, and you tend to rely heavily on it after a while.

There are dozens of...

Too bad you don't like/want a Zone. The Z Zone is (IMO) the best overstable mid/putter on the market. The thing won't turn into a hurricane. It glides like crap, and you can throw it as hard as you...

For me personally, the least versatile discs are anything that is super understable. You can't throw super understable discs very hard without them turning over. A disc that does nothing but flip at...

Yeah. I have 1 Lion, and the first thing I thought when I held it for the first time was VRoc. The Lion is a decent mid, but there are already several other molds that are super similar.

I...

Kastaplast

I've only thrown 2 of their molds. Both were OK, but I wasn't super wild about them..

Rask: Super fast, overstable distance driver. Doesn't glide well.

Grym: Distance driver that seems like a...

I'm not even really sure there are discs that can be considered the "worst". I think what really makes a disc bad for someone is their unfamiliarity with it. Thus, any disc you're not familiar with...

A4

I've been bagging an A4 lately. Bit of a strange disc. It has a rim like a Gator. Initially somewhat understable on hard rips. This disc will definitely turn. I can get it out to about 350'. The A4...

Thanks. I knew this was coming. Lately I've been sneaking quite a few different drivers out past 450' fairly regularly. I had a good feeling about the Excite, and it didn't let me down. That thing is...

This one I had today definitely wasn't turning much. The glide saved it though. It faded fairly hard, but it was a glidey fade.

The distance was still impressive. It seems like the kind of Wraith...

Halo Wraith

Got to try a Halo Wraith today for the first time. (First Halo disc I've tried of any mold). I was a little curious how it would stack up against other Wraiths flight-wise.

Disc is 173-5 and is...

500' achieved!

I finally got to 500' today. This after a couple years of steady work to do so.

It was a combination of improving mechanics, practice, and trying out the Axiom Excite for the first time. That disc...

Excite..... vs. Relativity and Catalyst

Threw the Axiom Excite for the first time today. Neutron plastic, unknown weight (feels like 170ish). Here's what I think of the disc, and how it compares to a Neutron Relativity and Proton Catalyst....

The last few Daedaluses I've thrown have been domey champions. Good drivers. They turn, but not enough to be flippy. Great glide and huge distance.

These things will go over 450' routinely. I...

Most Destroyers don't have -2 turn. A new star Destroyer might work for you. It combines speed with minimal turn, and good distance.

Few star Destroyers I've ever thrown have had more than -1 turn.

A champion Starfire might work. It's overstable, but not uselessly so. The Starfire can be cranked out for good distance without worrying about it flipping.

Post your thoughts after you throw it. I had a rough time last time out with my 174 opto Knight. It was just turning too much and not coming back.
