Relativity

OK, time for a quick update on the Relativity. I've been playing around with a couple of these lately, and I think I've finally figured out how to throw them properly.

Before, I kept trying to...

Sidewinders will easily handle 350' power without getting too flippy.

You'll know when its time to look for something beefier. If your flat or hyzer throws start turning too much and not coming...

I've enjoyed the Mayhem, what little I've thrown of it.

Stuff like the Relativity and Octane need to be thrown hard. The Relativity is all or nothing. If you don't get it turned, the disc stalls...

Here's my final observation of MVP drivers. They WILL give you good distance, but you'll have to earn it. I've never thrown any driver of theirs that was floaty or provided easy distance. I don't...

Yeah, I think its silly to randomly boot other brands' discs from your bag if they're still working. MVP doesn't make anything that's going to replace a Firebird.

I'd also have a hard time pulling...

boutique discs

I personally don't have a problem with special discs. Sometimes its fun to throw a nicer version of a certain mold.

Glow, metal flake, whatever. That boutique plastic is high quality stuff.

I bet you either don't stock the following models, or they sell poorly.....

Numbers are definitely arbitrary. Thunderbirds probably have a fade of 3. Most of the ones I've thrown fade pretty significantly. They don't turn at all either, unless you get a G* Thunderbird....

I'm pretty sure the groove concept was created so Innova could make wide rimmed drivers weigh significantly less. This was right after the Boss came out, and Innova wasn't able to make lightweight...

I didn't like the Monarch at all. Its a very worthy (crappy) little brother to the Groove. The Monarch flies something like a Beast X, but with far less glide and distance. It'll carve a decent...

Explorer

Quick Explorer update. I have 2 of these, a gold line and an opto. Threw the opto for the first time today. It was field work, so I basically had the Explorer (172g) up against a bunch of much faster...

Is the Groove really that bad?

Had another field session today. On a lark I decided to add a 172g champion Groove I found in a lake a couple weeks ago. I haven't thrown a Groove in several years, and I feel the general dislike for...

DD3

I threw my 2nd DD3 the other day. Like the first one, this one's an S line, 175g. Also like the first one, this 2nd DD3 flew great. I love the way this mold flies. Like that perfectly broken in...

Fatigue is very real in disc golf. Some days I'll be out there throwing hard, and the distance simply won't be there. I actually throw best when I've had at least a week between sessions. Losing 100'...

I had the Grym in the field again today against a star Tern. The Tern was still beating it, but not by a ton. I think I get what you're saying about the plastic breaking in. A few times I noticed...

Tough to give definitive answers here. The 4 Corvettes I've thrown have varied widely in stability and glide. 3 of them are really overstable and glideless, and the 4th one has some high speed turn...

I'd probably put the Tern in my top 3 longest discs. It definitely isn't a headwind disc, but for calm or downwind conditions you'll have a hard time finding anything longer. The disc glides for days...

Heats are supposed to be domey. That's what gives them that floaty, straight flight. Take away the dome and you lose the glide.

Very good finesse disc for when you don't want much, if any, late...

Corvette

One more quick Corvette update. I threw my 4th one today, a 166 star. The other 3 Corvettes I've thrown are stars, 167g and 2 175g's.

Of the 4, only the 167g star has impressed me thus far. I'm...

Innova purposely made a bunch of X outs when Paul McBeth left. Suddenly they had a ton of several different molds with his name on them they couldn't really sell anymore. That's why there are a lot...

Beast X = concave wing
Beast L = straight wing

IMO the Beast X is a far better disc. Beast L is clunky and flies like a sloppy Sidewinder. Beast X flies almost like an Orc but with less dumpy...

The Heat I threw was Z FLX 165g. I won't say it was beefy, but it wasn't really flippy either. I could mash it into the ground if I wanted, but the disc will hold a floaty line out to 400' if you put...

McBeth Destroyers made my arm hurt to throw. They're absolute beef. I know I'm generalizing again here, but out of like 12 McBeth Destroyers I've thrown, maybe 2 had high speed turn. The rest were...

Those who throw 500' backhand, which method do you use?

I don't throw 500', but I feel like its within reach. I can do 450' pretty steadily with a variety of fast drivers. I seem to be fairly stuck at that distance though. Once in a blue moon I'll uncork...
