The Voyager is only $55 on Amazon now, looks like a great bag at that price. Carries more than you need, but that's not always a bad thing, gives room to add more discs eventually or some extra towels

Right, put the first ring to the ground giving a solid line for marking. Spacing is dependent on the shape of the OB, A straight line would only need one at each end (if you pull the rope enough)...
