I've thrown probably 6 Waves. Both types of plastic. I just don't much like them. They come out of the hand fast, but don't glide that well or go especially far. For what the disc does, a Tern is so...

My DD3 isn't a Cloudbreaker, but it sure seems to fly as you describe. Big dome too. More dome than probably any star Destroyer I've seen. Literally that perfect 12, 5, -1, 2 flight.... where the...

A Shryke or Thrasher will NOT need an anny release to achieve a distance line. Both of those discs are fairly fast, but they're also understable enough that they don't take a ton of arm to get up to...

I agree. Even when I was a crappy player years ago I'd throw Beasts well further than Teebirds. Faster discs will provide good distance, even with less than optimal arm speed.

The fact that the...

I throw distance drives probably 400' on average. With the right conditions or disc I can stretch that to 450'.

I play in CO. The courses here tend to be fairly open. Not really any of the...

I agree with this. No one can tell you how to play disc golf. Its pretty much a game of self discovery. Try all sorts of different discs and see what works. Besides, the same things don't always work...

I stopped throwing Beasts when the L mold came out. I just didn't like them. They felt like slightly faster Sidewinders and had a lazy, almost clunky flight. Champion Beast Xs are very nice drivers....

I've only thrown 1 Savant, but for me it was slower and beefier than an Orc. Shorter too. If you want a less stable Orc, try a Beast X.

Savants are almost exactly like Thunderbirds. I have no clue why Innova even bothered making both molds.

IMO the Savant is a little clunkier and shorter than the Thunderbird.

The hand feel of the Roc3 isn't the greatest thing ever, but that disc does its job well. I threw a Z Buzz and then an EMac Truth. Once I changed out to the champion Roc3 my shots improved...

Try a champion Roc3. It won't be ridiculously overstable, but it sure as heck won't flip either. Discmania MD5 is another good option if you want legit beef.

I personally use a Lat64 Pain as an...

Its hard to really say you prefer a beat in disc vs. a naturally understable mold. Both will have their merits. I've thrown some really, really good beat in drivers. They tend to lose the high speed...

I have a whole bunch of different Shrykes in all plastics. The Karina Nowles one is WAY flatter than all of them. I just don't like the way it flies. Something similar to a Freedom. Lots of high...

The worst Shryke I own is a Karina Nowles glow champion. The thing is super flat and doesn't glide very well. Its also really understable with a hooky fade. Of all my Shrykes is probably the worst...

I threw a DD3 for the first time today. S line 175g. Here are my thoughts:

Upon initial examination, this disc looks EXACTLY like a domey star Destroyer. Holding the 2 discs up side by side you...

I pulled a 152g star Shryke out of the lake last weekend. I'm curious to see what it'll do. Part of me thinks its going to be too flippy to even throw effectively. Its that cheap, almost blizzardy...

G* Shrykes are super long. You might also try a star Shryke if you ever get a chance. I've surpassed 450' with both.

Also, give the star Tern a look. They're every bit as long as Shrykes, maybe...

I agree. I've thrown some absolutely RIDICULOUS Nukes. And these weren't Nuke OS's either.

Ti or FLX Z Nukes aren't even really throwable for distance.

Any wide rimmed driver is going to run...

Most Flicks I've thrown have been pretty consistent. They have a flat portion of flight before they fade out pretty hard. I did have to take a Z Flick out of my bag couple years ago because...

Agree that the Flick isn't a very good headwind disc when you want your shot to stay firmly hyzer or flat. Flicks can go from hyzer to flipped in a surprisingly small amount of headwind.

In calm...

I've thrown several Flicks, and never seen a really brutal one. For me a Flick will actually ride flat for a bit before fading hard.

This sentence is the key to the whole thing. Throw the slowest disc that will reach the distance you need. I learned this the hard way. I'd try to take too much off of fast drivers for shorter throws...

Every speed disc has a place, assuming you have the arm for them.

The OG poster seems to throw ridiculously far with slow drivers. He won't need to even bother with speed 13-14.

I personally...

Most overstable disc I've run across in nearly 20 years of playing was a super flat Z Nuke OS. No glide and no distance. Its like throwing a table saw blade. There isn't a wind out there that would...
