Bosses will hang pretty well in headwinds. I'm a little surprised more Innova sponsored pros don't throw them. The Boss was basically the first 13 speed driver introduced. I've had one in my bag...

I agree. The Daedalus can be a decent mold. I've thrown a few good champion ones. In G* they get really finicky though. The Daedalus works great in calm or downwind conditions. Anything upwind it's...

I've only thrown 1 splatter star disc. A Brinster Destroyer. Massively overstable and glideless. Plastic itself was beautiful and a bit gummy.

Reminded me a lot of a McBeth star Destroyer.

OK, I'll rephrase that a bit. Innova is currently the only company selling discs that have surface bubbles. Those produce that rough, worn texture on star and champion plastic.

These are all valid concerns. I agree that discs with air bubbles in the rim seem to wear out faster. They simply seem like a shoddy product. Innova is the only company selling such discs. I feel...

Catapults and Giants probably won't fare any better in headwinds than Ballista Pros. They'll be noticeably shorter too.

Neither one would be longer than a star Boss.

Enigma

Tried yet another new driver today. Enigma, 168g. Neo plastic. I'm not really familiar with the Discmania/L64 collaboration, but this seems to be an Opto type plastic. Nice stuff, somewhat swirly....

I've thrown 5 Opto Ballista Pros now. So far 2 of them have flown true to the numbers, and 3 of them have been noticeably flippier. Interestingly, the lightest B Pro I have (158g) might be the...

Stargate XXL Destroyer

Got a chance to throw one of these today. First off, this is a newer Destroyer, and it reminded me a lot of a Wysocki raptor Destroyer. It had a very slightly concave wing and a nice dome. Disc is...

I have 4 or 5 Wysocki (Raptor) star Destroyers that have blizzardy/striated looking rims. I'm not wild about that, but I'll grudgingly admit the discs fly great.

I wonder if that striated plastic...

Jolly Launcher was (IMO) the best champion plastic Innova made. That or the old, indestructible pearly stuff from the early 2000s.

Catalyst is definitely flippy. I found that if I threw mine into any sort of headwind (even a breeze) that it would turn and burn pretty bad. Anything over about 350' you'll need to release hyzer...

Yeah, I'm not liking any of Innova's air bubble stuff, blizzard or otherwise. Lately I've even been seeing star discs with air bubbles. The disc itself has a rough texture and the plastic looks...

Air bubbles in the rim

OK, I'm noticing a trend with Innova/Discmania lately, and it isn't a good one. Full (or nearly full) weight champion discs with air bubbles in the rim. I'm not really talking about blizzard plastic....

Big dome on the blue one. I bet it'll be very slightly flippy and absolutely bomb.

The domier the Destroyer the better, as far as I'm concerned. The flat ones are generally glideless and really...

Rim width aside, I just didn't feel like the Warhorse was super fast. Definitely not faster than a Destroyer. The rim also seems a little deep.

Try a starlite Boss. Flippiest thing I've ever thrown. It'll go if you throw into a good tailwind, but otherwise it flips like a paper plate.

Warhorse

Threw a Warhorse for the first time today. Tournament burst plastic, 174g. This disc has a nice dome, and the rim feels a little bit deep. The plastic is beautiful and very slightly gummy.

The...

Forehand isn't really my specialty, especially for max distance. I'll give it a go though. I'll probably throw the Warhorse tomorrow or Wed. I'll do a little write up on it afterward.

I just got a Warhorse. I'll take it to the field this week and try it. I'm definitely not expecting 450'. It looks pretty overstable.

Katanas generally have a harder fade than Shrykes. If you go right with a Katana it'll usually fight back toward center at the end of flight. Shrykes can drift right and stay there, especially if...

I'd have to agree. For a while I was one of the people making gross generalizations about Destroyers, attempting to figure out which ones fly certain ways.

I've come to the conclusion that you...

Z FLX seems to be the most overstable plastic variety Discraft makes. I have a 165g Z FLX Heat, and it will hold a line pretty nicely.

If you start getting into faster drivers Z FLX becomes way...

Sounds like your 4X McBeth must have been made right as they were transitioning stamps. Newer Destroyers seem to have the straight wing.
