Casual play/practice are different from tourney play of course. In casual play I generally try to birdie anything I can reach and run most putts regardless of danger. I get into early trouble plenty being aggressive but I don't mind because I get practice at getting out of all kinds of situations. In tourney play I have a strategy where I decide what I'm going to do on all the holes ahead of my round. In practice i will have chosen all the holes that I will play for birdie and which holes I will play for par and generally I know which disc/shot I'm going to throw off each tee. The hard part is when it doesn't go according to plan early and I have to resist compounding my mistakes by throwing away my game plan and going for everything.
