Perhaps, but I was putting with DX and KC Pro before going to XT. At first, XT almost seemed too grippy for my hand on release (as you also said), but now that it's getting a bit more worn in, it feels just right.

But you may be on to something...I should try some of my older DX putters in XT, and see if I still feel the same.
