I started discing in February and I live in North Dakota. It does get cold here as well. UA as a base layer is pretty key. The knock off's that you can get at Wally world or target are just as good. Layers are important and I think it all starts with the wicking layer the most important. The pouch that you put your hands in are a deal maker. It makes the cold bare hands warm up nicely.

I've not used it for DG but my daughters are big into cross country, track, and soccer. We won't buy anything but UA for them. Nothing else stands up to the repeated washing and we've never had a bit of odor problem. And we've never had a complaint about itching. I understand the reaction to a $50 undershirt but from our experience it's worth the money.

But I have some Gander Mtn similar stuff that seems to be working for me but I don't use it as much as my daughters.

** Thread Jack warning ** I'd like to hear if anyone has suggestions for gloves. There's all kinds of liner and sports gloves - any of them work?

I used UA cold gear for years as a paramedic. Did a great job of keeping me warm when working out on the streets and yet it breathed enough so as not to suffocate me when working inside.

If I get to the courses this winter, I'll definitely be wearing mine!
