Default PDGA Minimum weight limit?

I joined the PGDA recently to play in a upcoming local event with a friend of mine. He says that there is a minimum weight limit on 150g to play in a PDGA sanctioned events here in the U.S. Is this true? I received all my materials from the PDGA yesterday, including the rule book, and havw scoured the web, but haven’t found anything that says there is a minimum weight limit on approved use for play discs. Can anyone send me a link?

Thanks!

Not true at all. There are maximum weights for discs, but no minimums. Your friend is either misinformed or he's messing with you.

Right. I have a couple of 137g discs in my bag. (Because they float, a necessity for me on one of the courses I regularly play).

You don't see a lot of people playing with discs under 150g, unless you go to juniors events, but then again, those who do probably aren't talking about it.

Some people might be confused. I think that there is/was a 150g class of events but I think it is/was only used in Japan mostly?

PDGA approved discs are manufactured down to about 100 grams, and there's probably rare ones even lighter.

Like JC said, he's full of beans.

In Japan discs must not weight over 150g.

In either case, no minimum weight for PDGA sanctioned events.

You might want to read those PDGA Tech Standards

Off-topic a little...sounds like anyone meeting those standards and able to make at least 500 dics available to the market can get a disc approved...

Off to my workshop...

Make an overmold lid, Noill. You'll be disc golf rich in no time.
