Played 18 at Rockland from the reds. I finished 54 with four deuces and four fours. I took a 3 on hole 7.

Today’s contestants:
The 3 Omegas
Mako3
Roc3
Mortar
Star and Gstar TL3
2 Champ Thunderbirds
The Roadrunner
Gstar Wraith

I seem to have arrived at my Ideal bag setup. It wasn’t what I expected it to be. I carry 15 discs and I have what I feel is every shot covered. Am I a minimalist? Am I a cycler?

The setup:
3 putters
3 mids (under>stable>over)
5 fairways (beat>flippy>under>stable>over)
3 distance (under>stable>over)
1 roller

Maybe I’ll post the discs that fill those slots for me later. Right now I have to take 100 putts.

Okay, I was mistaken. I carry 16 discs. 4 distance drivers. Here’s the lineup:

Distance Drivers 350’ to 440’
166 Sirius Barsby Scorpius - overstable
175 Star Wraith - straight to overstable
167 Star Wraith - straight to understable
171 Gstar Wraith - understable

Control/Fairway Drivers 300’ to 400’
168 Champ Thunderbird - overstable
171 Champ Thunderbird - straight to overstable
175 Star TL3 - straight
175 Gstar TL3 - straight to understable
171 Champ Leopard3 - understable

The Roller ~400’ max
171 Star Roadrunner - not the only disc I throw rollers with but is the disc I only throw rollers with. The Gstar wraith is my max distance backhand roller. 550’ in good conditions.

Midrange 250’ to 325’
175 Recon Mortar - overstable
175 Champ Roc3 - straight to overstable
168 Star Mako3 - straight to understable

Putters 0’ to 280’
175 Sirius Omega 1.2 - overstable drives and approaches
150 and 151 Sirius Omega 1.1 - putts, drives, approaches? They do it all. If I’m within 200’ I’m probably grabbing one of these and trying to throw it in.

Not currently. When I started this thread I expected my ideal bag to end up as 3-4 Omegas, 4 Roc/3’s, 3 Teebirds, 2 Firebirds, 3-4 Wraiths and a roller. That would still be a killer setup but my game has changed some (injuries and such exacerbated this) and I’m focusing a bit more on control over power.

The midrange setup is where I surprised myself most. I’m only throwing one Roc and it’s a 3! I’d been a Roc cycler since 2002 or so, lol!

I recently traded in all my kc pro's, and only have one champ roc3 in the bag. It's nice being able to just get a new one if it were to get lost. like your bag setup a lot though, also surprised no firebirds or overstable fairway.

I find a fresh Champ Thunderbird handles almost all those overstable duties. The Mortar handles the rest.

Certainly not too floppy. I think Gstar is way more durable than people give it credit for. I think it resists damage better than anything. It simply flies more understable when new.

Question to all: Why is it strange to putt with premium plastic?

I think it's a preconception that base plastic "grips" the chains better.

I certainly prefer base plastic in the wet, which means if I have base putters I can always count on my grip for putting even if everything else is slippery

I have found detractors say premium is less consistent on grip, or more impacted by temp, and it is generally slicker so the chains don’t catch it as well. I know a guy that drains everything with a champ aviar, I always say whatever works.
