It can't be hitting trees since Conrad still does that well enough and with the power in his backhand they'll receive more beatings than most people's discs.
The disc becomes offended by your poor form and flies crappily out of spite.

Btw: I liked the ITB a lot. Nice to watch.
He seems like the guy that would go minimalist with his bag as often as he could, which could play into that. Using one disc for multiple shots instead of multiple beat up discs for specific shots. I think he mentioned in an earlier interview that on a trip to Asia he took a minimalist approach and really leaned on a handful of discs that are still in his bag, per this video.

I thought it was a good ITB, too. I like James. Even though I'm well stocked on JK Aviars I might pick up a couple JCs to help support him a little.

I found it interesting that he wouldn't put any of the discs down once he finished talking about them. Whatever category he was talking about, he kept all of that group in his lap or hands. Most players just throw their discs on the ground after talking about each one. This really stood out to me. I wonder what made him handle the discs this way.

He went to Europe in 2019 for the tour with a bag of 10 discs

Europe is what I was thinking of, not Asia. Thanks for that.

There’s no doubt that he cycles, he just doesn’t carry all of them at once.

I would imagine his background in juggling plays a hand.

Sorry, I meant if you have clean form, you can throw beat up discs without fear of turning them into rollers.

JC have discs that flies in a way discs are not "meant to" fly

I can΄t understand how he can throw a ROC or an AVIAR straight for 80% of the flight..and THEN make it turn right?!? . .. mine just turns directly right . . or never turns at all

To get that late turn right as a RHBH thrower is SO hard..and it looks SO easy for JC

It's surely the amount of spin that he imparts on the disc then. As that spin slows the stability reduces and the understability shows. Is that right?
