Default Shark3 ? Does anyone even throw this thing?

I just got a 166 recently, and it's really good for fairway type shots, but I can't seem to aim it correctly for simple mid range duties. It's such a meat hook.
I do like the fast speed and "reliability" since it's so OS. But it seems a bit TOO OS for me.

Maybe I need to kill this flashing, which I've seen on every shark3 so far.
It's also a really good fh roller, but I can't even use it well for mid range so it probably won't make it in the bag.

Anyone love their's? I never hear anything about this disc, and there's barely any old threads on it.

I don't hate it, but I can see why its not that popular. I think there are just too many really good slightly OS mids.

The one I threw wasn't too OS, pretty much like a brand new champ Roc3 but I didn't dig the feel.

I would suggest apparent overstability is relative to the thrower. I use(d) it as a predictably HSS, straight line driver. I have two copies, one is a lighter sparkle version that turns a bit easier, and a heavy which has strong HSS, but neither fade heavily. I think the numbers are roughly accurate at 5/4/0/2 for the latter copy. I used it where I would otherwise use a Roc3 if there was headwind involved.

Try giving it a good flat rip and see if it isn't the HSS that's giving most of the impression of overstability. It's a good disc, but as you say, it's a crowded field these days. FWIW, I dropped it in favor of the Vector, which was similar HSS-wise, but which I can get out farther.

yea i think it's that combination of Speed stability and mold stability that's throwing me off.
it's definitely beefier than any roc3. I never liked the vector but I can see why you chose it, it's a bit less overstable, but mvp's don't float for me unless absolutely ripped or winds help it.

It's not supposed to be.

Shark3 5/4/0/2
Roc3 5/4/0/3

Did you get a freak Shark or something? Assumed it was supposed to fly similar to a warn in Roc3 so I never gave it much thought. Have a warn in Roc3 already.

My shark3 is also more OS than any roc3 I've thrown. I have a proto star x-out. I heard the first run shark3s are more over stable than roc3s. Definitely true from what I've experienced.

I've only thrown a couple Shark3s (proto stamps and stock stamps). They were all a lot more HSS than the Roc3. Definitely a mid that's great for high power players. If you don't have a big arm this thing will just hyzer out early on you and appear overstable. If you're expecting it to fly like a seasoned Roc3 then you're in for a surprise.

Am I correct that a Shark3 shares its top with the other '3's but has a different bottom? Would this make it similar to a Roc3 with no bead?

I think it's common knowledge now that the shark3 is MUCH MORE OS than any roc3.

despite the numbers.

I have a couple of these in the bag. You might want to try different weights, plastics, or stages of wear to fill in the missing gap in your arsenal. The Shark3 is definitely stable - especially in the Star or Champ plastic. The G* blend is a great compliment to those beefy midranges- a bit less stable and no big skips once it hits the fairway (or basket depending on how close you are)!
