Default Using Another Player's Disc to Hole Out

Hello Everyone,

Here is a strange tournament rules question. While watching the Trilogy Oppna Final 9 I came across this question: can you borrow another player's disc to play as your own?

Here is the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFmBfE0Pc4M

Check at 14:11 and on for what I am talking about. Eric McCabe is putting down his mini to use his putter to hole out and for whatever reason cannot put it down(maybe too close to the pin.) So he grabs Dixon Jowers' putting to tap out instead. Legal?

Yes. The main thing is to let your group know or see that you are using a marked disc but not with your name on it.

Totally just assuming here, but I don't think there is any rule against borrowing another players disc wether it be for a drive or a tap in putt. But I could be totally wrong.

No issues. I call this old man golf with respect to tap-ins.

Never read the rules on this matter, but one time my buddy lost his buzzz, I felt bad and mentioned I had a backup buzzz in my bag if he needed it. Then a guy on my card said it was against the rules and we could be stroked?? Maybe he was wrong, if I wasn't supposed to be working, I would look up the rules. But I would assume you CANNOT use another players disc. Not sure though.

You can use any PDGA approved disc that is uniquely marked in some way. It does not have to be your own unique marking.

So yes, you can borrow/loan discs all you want as long as someone has marked it.

It's a myth. Everybody should read the rules so this doesn't happen.

Okay cool, I'm going to put the rulebook in my bag again. I took it out last time I cleaned it out and will use this reminder to get it back in there. It is a pain when ppl say something you don't think is true, but you don't have the book to prove them wrong.

Isn't the burden of proof on THEM to show you where in the rule book it is illegal?

Some people also have the link to the rules on their smartphone, although you can't always get a signal on some courses.
