Default Video Overlay Software

Does anyone know of a good free video overlay software?

I can't recall exactly where, but I remember seeing a video of someone comparing their technique to a Pro's by overlaying a semi-transparent video of the Pro on top of a video of their own throw. The effect of the two players throwing simultaneously and overlaid on each other made it immediately obvious where the similarities and differences were in posture and timing, because you could just look at where their bodies were (or weren't) overlapping.

I would like to use this effect to study film of myself this winter, and was hoping that someone in the community would be able to point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

Have you tried Shotcut? It's free and open source.

I just downloaded it, so I can't really comment on it just yet, but I did a YouTube search and it does appear to support overlays.

I did this one a while ago with the app Fused. I used some other apps to slow the speed down and get the sizes similar. I did that for a dgcr member, can't remember who though.
