Default Canadian Disc Golf Championships Presented by Dynamic Discs

Didn't see another thread, so had no place to post this.

Just for fun, I looked at the expected payout for the Canadian Disc Golf Championships Presented by Dynamic Discs.

Simon, with the highest rating, started with the highest expect payout. Hole #10 at Hillcrest in the first round cost Simon $169.11. On the other hand, Hole #10 at Hillcrest in the third round gained Nate Sexton $115.97.

That’s par for the course in my neck of the woods.

Were the payout amounts set before the tournament started?

The chart makes it look like no one was expected to get first place, and it's winning purse of $1229. Simon began the tournament with the highest expected payout...at about $800!?

When the tournament began, no one had a 100% chance of winning first place. They all had some chance of winning the first place money, some chance of winning the second-place money, etc. The expected winnings are the sum of the probability of finishing in each place, times the amount of money they would win if they did.

Double-digits under a par which would have been more appropriate for Advanced (950-rated) players on Hillcrest and for Intermediate (900-rated) players on Huck It.

However, even if par had been set appropriately the best round on Huck It would have still been 10 under. The best round on Hillcrest would have been 6 under, not 11 under.

(The pars on the PDGA site are shown as 58 for all three rounds. This seems to be a typo as it doesn't match the Udisc pars.)

If you like DG videos especially from Jomez then please do yourself a favor and check out Round 3. One of the more exciting final rounds on video.

This seems like an opportune time to put in my plug for this awesome course. It's current rating of 4.89 is based on the 14 ratings and would place it # 2 in the world between # 1 Harmony Bends (4.93) and just ahead of the current # 2, Selah Ranch-Lakeside (4.84). How many ratings down it need to be listed in the top courses list?

Because I absolutely loved Hillcrest, you players who played it during the Canadian Championships need to enter some ratings/write some reviews, in order to see it listed among the top courses in the world. It's apparent that everyone who plays here feels that it is a world class course.

Because it's on Prince Edward Island and that takes a $75 ferry ride to get there, not many players end up making the trip out there. You're missing a great course.

It would be so worth getting it up to number one just to get people to shut up about Harmony Bends being rated number one already. =D
