I've thrown a Champ Caiman and Gator, they're both too OS and short for what I'm looking for. I find the Rat to be a shorter Roc3 (straight with a little fade) that forehands better than a Roc/Roc3. Official numbers for the Rat are 4/2/0/3 but it seems 4/2/0/2 to me.
Discmania has changed the flight numbers on the MD3 to 5/5/0/2 and even that 0/2 is a stretch. . i think MD4 will be better for you

Stupid question time: is there a significant flight difference between a C or S line MD3 or MD4 and a Champ RocX3?

Not stupid at all, man. Absolutely. S-Line will start out more understable and will season pretty quick. After a single season with an S-Line, mine fly more like a 5/5/-1.5/1. They are quite flippy.

I noticed that you seem to be looking at the original release flight numbers. They originally thought the mold would be more overstable than production runs came out to be, so they changed the numbers to 5/5/0/2 - which I think is exactly where a fresh C-Line starts out.

Then there's all the glow runs. The traditional white glow are the most overstable, while the Color Glow runs tend to be right in the middle. I carry 1 fresh Crowned Eagle color glow, 1 fresh "Claws" Eagle McMahon sig, and one beat to hell S-Line. This covers everything but utility shots, when I reach for a Gator for OS or a Prodigy M4 if I need super flippy.

The newest run of S line MD3 are as stable as any MD4 I have thrown which shocked me because the old runs used to be flippy for an MD3. Luster MD3s are amazing discs along with glows (I bag both) the luster has slightly more HSS than a glow. Glows tend to come out the flattest. I do believe you may find the MD3 slightly less stable than you are looking for. If you put a lot of stank on an MD3 or throw them in a headwind they can find some turn. The MD4 picks up where the MD3 falls off.

Shark3 was a little domey when I threw them.

MD4 is the disc I often use for this shot, however, my 2017 Ledgestone Sparkle Cryztal Buzzz is also fantastic for this. Dead-straight, no turn, consistent fade.

When did you buy yours? I got mine in 2017 and it is nearly flat with only the slight edge of top making a flat top micro dome to the mold.

IIRC it was when they first came out and I also recall it having pretty sharp flashing when I first got it.

My 2 had some mini flashing that was sharp on the bottom but it went away quick. Actually it was very early 2018 when I got my Shark 3 but they were last of the very end 2017 runs. The part I do remember is getting 2 that were nearly identical except one was dark purple stamp the other was deep navy blue and they were green, I cringed at first but that turned to be the highlighter green color that Innova is using now for most discs in green even the non opaque plastics that Innova makes. that basic green Innova used in the 2000's is as bad a color choice as the 2000's blue still used for Champion.
