I'm late to this conversation, but I've found it extremely easy to safely distance from others playing disc golf.

I'm obviously more cognizant of such things now, but it is so hard to keep strangers from coming up to me while I'm playing. I haven't had this issue yet. I play less popular courses at off times though too. I just figured I'd feign a coughing fit as someone was approaching though.
