Default Detroit, a free day or two

I'm in town for work for the next week or two, and may have a little free time. I already hit up Firefighters Park, which was very pretty and a nice fun quick round. I'd like to hit up something a bit more epic within 40 or 50 miles. What course or courses are the can't miss or bucket list types? I have checked out the map but hearing it from a local is always best. Cheers!

Addison Oaks is one of my favorites in the area. I think it's a solid 4.0

All of the Metro Park courses are very solid, well maintained, and fall in the 3.5-4.0 range, IMO:
Stony Creek has two 18 hole courses.
Kensington has two 18 hole courses.
Hudson Mills has two 24 hole courses.

Independence Lake has two 18 hole courses (although Red Hawk X is kindy trick to navigate).
Rolling Hills Original is a good choice, but the new Rolling Meadows is still quite rough, and playing Meadows solo is asking to lose plastic.

Those are pretty much the best in the area. Just know in advance that they (as to most of the larger parks in the state) charge about a $10 entry fee, plus the Metro Parks get an add'l $3/day for DG. Most of the locals buy annual passes, but $10-$13 for a day of DG is a bit steeper than most places.

Cass Benton Hills is the best free course in the area. It's a bit neglected, but you won't find many courses anywhere that pack that as much variety into 18 holes as Cass.
